Some of you know that I am a guinea pig freak. I just lost one of my piggies Saturday. I took him to the vet the past two Fridays but we couldn't save him. He had viral pnuemonia and couldn't fight it. He was about 5 and he had a nice long life.
I am on a list at my local animal shelter to call if they get any guinea pigs in. I always like to leave the piggies there for at least two weeks because they get more exposure there to be adopted. The animal shelter gives them about the same time before they euthanize them. I don't let that happen, so they call me when the time is getting close. I got that call yesterday so I went and picked up the three lovely ladies. I'm pretty sure two are pregnant. The third one is a just a baby. Here are some pictures I took of them as soon as I got them home. link link link link link
They are in the playpen bc I didn't even have time to build them a cage before I had to go get them. They all had to have their feet washed off, poop was caked on them from being in a teeny tiny cage. I trimmed their nails and am preventively treating them for mites just incase. In about three weeks they'll join my other 3 girls. I haven't chosen names yet but I'm leaning towards Elsie for the white one, Evangeline (inside joke) for the b/w one, and Marnie for the orange/white baby. I love my bebbies!!! Enjoy the pics.

Actually the B/W one has an attitude but it's probably bc she is about ready to bust at the seams. She tried to kick me when I went to pick her up. I've never had a GP try and kick me before. She just doesn't realize who she's messin with does she? ;)
ahhh poop machines...They make good pets, I lost mine due to it chewing on tha tv plug in wire and getting it self elctrocuted, that was a good tv too!
Mine have never bitten me but I really don't give them a reason to. If they did bite me, I can guarantee it would hurt pretty bad. Their teeth are very long.
William!! You let your piggy chew on electric cords? Piggy proof! Piggy proof!!
And yes, they are all spoiled rotten, as they should be. Just ask Janet.
Congrats, I bought my daughter a rabbit for her 4th birthday last year and so far I can say that Dad has done most of the work!
Still I managed to get the dog and rabbit to become best of friends so I guess i must have the touch!
Hope your ready for all those extra mouths to feed!
try what i did with the rabbit, put it in the back room and then forget it's there, 20 minuets later come back and let the dog in...
20 mins after that remember what you have done and run screaming to the room, protecting small children from seeing the carnage!
Seemed to work out fine for me, I was expecting to find just a pair of ears on the floor!
Bad boy Togg!!! Baaaaaaaad!!! Good dog though.
I just went to the grocery store (I took a personal day today from work) and I got some blood oranges for the piggies. I'll take some pictures of them after they've eaten them. You'll see why they are called blood oranges!
