THERE IS NO PICTURE OF HIM anywhere !!!
Instead its that bird thats supposed to be freddie , I think it was real stupid of brian and the rest to not have a BIG picture of Freddie on HIS tribute.
Same goes for No one but you video , no sign of freddie ..... What are they thinking!?
how can it be weird to have a big portray of freddie on his tribute dude? that would have been the most natural thing to do when youre tributing somebody.
Its like saying that on a funeral seremony ,you wouldnt have the deceaseds picture there...
if you have the DVD (that i doubt you have because if you have it,you won't be posting this) insert Disc 2 into your DVD player, wait for the menu to load, and navigate to "Freddie" press Enter in your remote and read what appears.
But i'm going to write here to you
"This six segments were created to highlight various aspects of Freddie's performances. THEY WERE PLAYED ON THE GIANT SCREENS to entertain the crowd while the crew worked frantically onstage to prepare for the next act"
oh,and "that bird" isn't suposed to be Freddie, that bird is the logo of The Mercury Phoenix Trust. link
well i have the dvd and yes those were played , but it wasnt those segments that was shown live to the entire world,it was the actual show and not everyone know who freddie mercury is so therefore it would have been really nice to have had a big picture of him instead of the bird phenix or whatever i dont care , it should been freddie instead of the pheonix

And you are the Artistic Director of which company...?
Your opinion is of course relevant, and the internet is exactly the place where u get to express it.
Actually some of those segments were shown on the original broadcast by the BBC.
Oh and by the way, I have been to a few funerals where no picture of the deceased was on display.
ROTC is NOT queen!!!! if you like that then you only like brian and roger! ROTC is crap.
(FM tribute was wonderful, i agree that they needed a Freddie picture)

What the fook are you on? They played Video clips of him between all the bands in the first half and then sang the songs in the second half!
I WAS THERE and believe me, there was no shortage of Freddie Mercury that day! As for the NOBY video, there are clips of Freddie throughout you freak.
i was just at my great uncle funeral a couple of months ago and there was a picture next to his coffin, but the coffin was closed. i'm not agreeing with the person there should of been a picture hanging over head, so i just to point out some people have there loved one picture at funerals. my older brothers picture wasnt there when he died so i guess it depends of the close family if they want pictures there.
I don't really mind that they didn't have a picture of him. I didn't even really notice until now.
I did, however, mind the enormous mural of Paul Rodgers behind the bands as they played.

I think the tribute was done well.
Fully agreeing with Brian_Mays_Wig's comment. I wasn't at the concert (I was seven at the time), but I do have the original tv broadcast that has those Freddie segments. There are aerial shots of the concert taken while the Freddie bits were shown on those big screen on both sides of the stage. So, you can actually see how those video bits were shown to the audience. (Sorry, very badly explained but I hope you got the point.)
As for the NOBY video, yes, it indeed has very many pictures and film bits of Freddie. I suggest you actually watch the original (maybe there are other versions out there too?).

AFAIK there are at least two, if not three, slightly different "official" versions of the video, and only one features Freddie footage inserts.
HTH

The Pheonix represented Freddie and the AIDS foundation. NO there shoudln't have been a hufe picture of Freddie. And there were videos shown throughout the concert actually. Besides, everyone knew why they were there, you don't need a gaint picture to ram it down your throat.
I think the version of NOBY with Freddie clips sucks big time. They spoil the actual performance video, which I think is nicely directed. I'm particulary angry about the clip they put in the "There's a face at the window..." part of the song, which is my favorite part. I really like the way Brian sings that part and then plays the riff on his guitar, but this is ruined by some crappy Freddie clip which we've already seen A MILLION times before. Thanks to DoRo and the Torpedo Twins for that and many other shitty edits. :S
Wiley
Indeed (concerning DoRo - the Compilation Conmen).
I still think Roger Daltrey was best in show at the Tribute Concert. Right from when he runs onto stage to the opening chords of "Pinball Wizard", and that constant microphone waving... what a fucking powerhouse.
One thing fucked up, Freddie wasn't there. How rude of it was it for that wanker not to show up to his own tribute. Who do he think he is? the Queen or something... oh yeah he was that.
