I dont know how many people here are aware of the new proposition about making every single of 11 million immigrants in the US a criminal. As people here in the US, I assume, have probably been already aware of the different protest marches that have been occuring during the week, tomorrow here in Los Angeles, California there is going to be a march to protest against the proposition. This proposition hits home for me because I myself am Mexican-American. My parents came to this country as illegal immigrants from Mexico in the late '60s, and through time became resident aliens of this country. They have given this country all they can give for the past 30 and so years. My dad has worked his life as an ulphoster, making the sofas and couches that we have in our living rooms for the past 30 years, my mom has worked in as we call it in spanish "Costura" meaning sewing or putting clothes together and makling the final product, then later receiving technical degree in computers and soldering the chips into the computers that we use to post messages into message boards like here on this great website Queenzone.com. I live here in a suburb of Los Angeles called South Gate, home of Cypress Hill and Emilia Erthheart, the neighbor of the city of Downey who gave us James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich from the badass Metallica. Like majority of the other suburs of Los Angeles, South Gate is composed primaraly of Hispanics. it is estimated that close to 500,000 Hispanics will march tomorrow in dowtown Los Angeles the march against the proposition. But also this march is for all the different illegal immigrants from all the different countries in the world that come here for a better opportunity. We do not want to make this country a bad one, we come here to better our lives and the lives of our families, and we help this country in bettering its economy. All us Hispanics want is for our friends, family members, co-workers who are the same race or different race as ours to be treated the same way as everyone in this country. Tomorrow, God willing, I will be one of the estimated 500,000 people to march in dowtown Los Angeles along with my parents, girl friend, and friends. I know that people in this country and here on this website have their opinions on the matter, some are the same as mine and some are the complete opposite, and I respect that. I just wanted to let you people here that are from the USA and from around the world know what has been happening on this side of the hemisphere in case you have only heard a little bit of it or none at all. I hope that this proposition does not get sign and pass to congress. By doing so , every single immigrant regardless of their nationality will be a criminal, people who hire or help immigrants will be fined and maybe be put in jail EVEN if they did not know they were illegal, and a wall will be built along the WHOLE Mexico-USA border, creating a similar one as that of Berlin. I hope you guys understand what these marches that have gone on in Georgia, Chicago, Arizona, and tomorrow Los Angeles mean to us Hispanics in this country. I am grateful in living in a country where people's voices are given a chance to be heard and maybe even listened to when it comes to making laws. Thank you people in this website too for letting people say their opinions even if they are not the same as yours and thanks also for reading my long ass post, lol. Thank you once again and I hope you support our cause. I will let you poeple know what happend tomorrow on Sunday. Thank you. |

I came here legally, but I've talked to a lot of people who came here illegally and trust me when I say that these people have been through a lot of major shit just to find a better shot to live a decent and honest life in the U.S. I mentioned before that those who have come here illegally and have opted for a life of crime and dishonest living deserve at least to be deported. However I still think there should be more strict rules for patrolling the border. We can't just allow anyone to cross the border and expect them to be good and honest people. The sad part of all this is that many of border officers abuse their power when it comes to dealing with illegal immigrants, and of course many of their actions go unknown or unreported. It's a very delicate subject, espacially for us hispanics who have been exposed to the nature of the issue. I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm also up for giving people who can prove that they've been working honestly a shot to become legal immigrants. |
greaserkat 24.03.2006 23:04 |
I agree. Many poeple who come illegally do end up in a life of crime because they have nothing else to do in order to survive. But I dont think that just because someone is illegal and even if they show proof that they have been working here and done no crimes should be considered a criminal |

Have hard-working illegals who have been here for 30 years been paying their taxes? Do they pay monthly health care premiums? Do they pay for their family's labor and delivery? For other hospital stays? Do their children go to private schools or to schools funded by the public? Many of us are looking for a better life and I feel no one should be denied that opportunity. But if you break the law to do the right thing, you're still breaking the law. Illegals are just that - illegal. They've broken the law to get here. Maybe they haven't led a life of crime, but they have committed a crime. Every adult in my family has worked hard throughout their lives. My father and grandfather worked two-three jobs at a time so we could get by. We would have loved a better life. We struggled - legally - and took nothing from the state. Health care premiums are insanely high but we pay them. Taxes are shocking - but we pay them too. I'm sorry if that sounds insensitive, but hardships abound for everyone. There are plenty of born and bred Americans who need assistance from the government. That's where some of our tax dollars are supposed to go. Not to support people who come here illegally and siphon from the system. I won't protest your march, but neither will I join it. |

What sickens me is when people start breeding so much hatred against illegal immigrants, but yet their grand parents and grandparents came to this country in the exact same way. |
SomebodyWhoLoves 27.03.2006 01:04 |
Sorry but these illegals must be deported. It's not about freedom. They broke the law. If they wanted to immigrate to the USA, then they have to apply and do it legally. |
SomebodyWhoLoves 27.03.2006 01:06 |
Mr.Jingles wrote: What sickens me is when people start breeding so much hatred against illegal immigrants, but yet their grand parents and grandparents came to this country in the exact same way.No. These grandparents did not illegally come here. Jakobe 27.03.2006 01:45 |
I have no hatred towards immigrants, I am not a racist of any kind. But if the United States continues to allow people (from anywhere!) to come here ILLEGALLY then the prosperous America that these immigrants are looking for will be no better than the country they are trying to escape from. |

C'mon, we all know that all the millions of Europeans who came to this country in the first half of the 1900's were illegal immigrants too. Many of the had no documents whatsover and no form of personal identification to find out who they are. So what's the difference? They couldn't send those people back to Europe. Once they came here, they had to stay here. People who cross the Mexican border could be easily sent back to where they came from. I'm not saying every single illegal immigrant should be allowed in this country, but for those who have some proof that they've been working hard and honestly, there might be a chance. |

Being that Pieter is from Scotland, I am very aware of the hassle of dealing with the INS. It took Pieter 3 years to get a green card, and that's through marriage. Lord knows how long it must take to come here under different circumstances. I do think something needs to be done to better control the immigrant situation. It shouldn't be so drawn out and difficult for someone to come here LEGALLY to live and work. If the process was quicker and easier, people wouldn't have to run across the border in the middle of the night. |
SomebodyWhoLoves 27.03.2006 22:06 |
I don't care about these illegal immigrants. Boohoo. I don't care if they are honest and hard working. Ship em out to their country. They are illegal immigrants, breaking this country's laws. We can't have the entire third world coming here. It will destroy this country's standard of livings. I am not being mean or racist. It has nothing to do with racism or being mean. Why should illegal immigrants be allowed to work here and pay no taxes but get free access to schools, hospitals, and other services? Why? It is a drain on our country. |

YOU TRULY MADE ME CHANGE MY MIND, AND I BEG YOU TO TAKE MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES. OK, since we can't have the entire world coming here, then let's start by kicking out every single motherfucking immigrant who didn't come here in the first place. - Let's send all Muslims and Indians back to the Middle East. - Let's send all Asians back to China, Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. - Let's send all latinos back to Central and South America. - Let's send all blacks back to Africa - Let's send all white caucasians back to Europe. Now, it's time to give this land back to the people it belonged to... THE NATIVE AMERICANS! |

I guess it is time for me to be shipped back to Argentina. Oh, no wait... that's right... we DID live in a hellhole for 3 years in order to come up with the money required for me to even have a work permit here... then I guess it's ok for me to stay. It's all about the money. We can all sit here and argue for a thousand years and the bottom line is that it is all about the money. |

Dealing with the INS is such a pain. I'm so glad all of that is over for us. |
JustHisWife 28.03.2006 11:40 |
Yes, I am glad it is over for us too. :-) Adding up the medical exams fees, the initial paperwork, the trips to the Detroit immigration office, fingerprinting fees, etc. we spent over $1200. Which is not easy to come by when you're not allowed to work to begin with. |
Erin 28.03.2006 11:52 |
Come to think of it, I suppose we paid that much, if not more. I believe we had to do the work authorization 3 times, and the fee was $180, I think, each time. There was something like $400 or $500 intially, as well. Then there was the numerous trips to the Charleston, SC office.. Ahh..yes..fun times..NOT! |

SomebodyWhoLoves 28.03.2006 14:59 |
Whatever. The difference between other immigrants and illegal immigrants is, the former actually applied, and did it the right way, and the latter snuck in without permission or invitation. The USA shares a wide border with Mexico, and it's very easy for these illegal immigrants to cross over. It is time that the USA controls who it allows to enter into this country. The way it is right now is not sustainable. Every nation has the mandate to control it's borders. It is an issue of national security. Especially in this day and age of terrorism. If Mexicans really were honest, and hard working, they should work in THEIR country and try to make THEIR country more prosperous. These illegal immigrants do not pay any taxes. All they do is take public resources. They are a drain on our economy. They lower wages for normal Americans. They also commit crimes, and escape to their country without any justice. We should round them up, and ship them out. We should make it a FELONY CRIME for employers to hire illegals. Oh, by the way, these laws ALREADY EXIST. It just isn't being enforced. Once the government ENFORCES existing laws, and makes it a felony for employers to hire illegal aliens, then nobody, and I mean NOBODY will hire these illegals anymore, and they will LEAVE. If they do not leave, we should round them up, and deport them. We should also build walls and place military guards along the border, north and south. |
SomebodyWhoLoves 28.03.2006 15:02 |
And also, most Americans feel the way I do. These demonstrations by illegal Mexican immigrants are outrageous, and lies. These violators burn the American flag, and dare to say, they are the ones who made this country. That without them, this country couldn't function. Bull. I say, ship em out now, and enforce existing laws that make it a felony for employers to hire illegals! And most Americans agree! |
Brandon 28.03.2006 20:39 |
Currently, I am trying to find a way to Oz simply to work for a few years (Oh... and party a bit too...) and can sympathize with the people trying to make it here legally. However, that being said, I would never consider going anywhere illegally. Breaking laws is no way to start a new life. |

SomebodyWhoLoves wrote: If Mexicans really were honest, and hard working, they should work in THEIR country and try to make THEIR country more prosperous. So what are you implying? That all Mexicans are dishonest and lazy? So apparently ALL white Europeans who came to this country were actually honest. In case you haven't checked your history book, immigration in the early 1900s brought bad consecuences too. Think about all the crime organizations founded by immigrants who came in the earlier 1900s. Which, by the way I'm not talking about only Italians. As I mentioned before, once European immigrants came to Ellis Island their only choice was making them stay. The reason why people are coming to this country is because they have better opportunities and better chances of living in higher standards than they do in their countries. Large corparations (many of them American) take advantage of the fact that in third world and developing nations people are so desperate for jobs and the minimum wage is so low that they take their factories there to make people work hard for 10-20 times less than they would have to legally pay someone in the U.S. or Europe. I think SomebodyWhoLoves should change his name to: SomebodyWhoLovesOnlyWhites. No offense dude, but I think you should be spending more time at this message board: link |

bleh. This has NOTHING to do with racism! If millions of Canadians were sneaking across the border illegally, taking illegal jobs, free social, education, health services and NEVER paying taxes, Americans would protest the same way against Canadians. You claim Mexicans are honest, yet you're not. You falsely attempt to cloud the REAL issue and turn this into some racial issue, and it will not stand. I along with millions of Americans WILL protest amnesty for all Illegal Immigrants. We WILL demand that our cowardly politicians uphold the existing law, and make it a felony to hire illegal immigrants, and deport them at once. |
