Although I don't know the members of Queen personally, and they are not family members, over the years, I've grown fond of the members of Queen equally. Maybe that fondness is more like love. Is that insane?
I genuinely adore these guys equally. From John Deacon, who I respect so much because he's so normal, and a good family man. Plus he seems really nice.
To Roger Taylor. Who I have to admit, looks cool, and IS cool because he lives such a glamorous life.
To Brian May. The wizard. The genius.
And to the Mercurial Exotic Weird Crazy Talented Freddie Mercury. Who is incredibly unique. Crazy talented. And although he made choices I disagree, you can't help but admire, respect, and love him. Because he's Freddie.
Do you LOVE the members of Queen like you might love a close friend, or perhaps even like a brother?
Their being familiar to me is made up of:
30% inferences on their characters from the way they dress, they talk, and so on.
20% real facts about their life and their career.
50% imagination.
As you can see I feel AS IF they were close friends, but sometimes I think that it would be better having real friends and leaving queen were they are.
I really dig their music, I even have dreams of the members occisionally (lol) but after that, no, I know its different when their up on stage VS real life...trust me, and I know their human also, not just for Queen, but for anyone! I know its different...but seriously, if I ever saw any of the members of Queen in person, doesnt matter which one, especially in their "hey-day"(late 70's-80's) I probably wouldnt say anything to them, I'd probably just look...I'm very shy and introverted, I admit, lol...and I havent heard of many good encounters w/people trying to meet famous musicians, actors, vocalist, etc...
Another thing about Queen-
When I listen to their music, I truly feel like I'm another planet...just somewhere different than where I'm at right now, I really do!!!
Its pure ectasy listening to their music, pleasure to my ears, my escape-ism...my muse, lol!!!

Well yeah I am fond of them obviously, because they're my heroes and they are great musicians who I look up to. Even though I've never met them and I probably never will, I can see what you're saying. They look like really nice guys who have a huge respect for their fans. That's the impression I get from watching concerts and interviews etc. If I did meet them I'd probably still be saying the same thing.

Believe it or not in todays society that probably is true with whom you consider your close friends, just trying to put things in prespective =)
