Alright maybe this question has been asked before, I'm not sure. Anyway we all have tracks on Queen albums we like less then others. Some even hate certain tracks but I personnaly dont't. So my question to you is, is there a Queen album that you think is just perfect or close to perfection? I'd say Queen II. It has everything you'd expect from a Queen album, still I'm not too keen on the song Funny How Love Is, so that's pretty much the only reason I don't rate it as perfect. A Night At The Opera stands as a close second but again one song just doesn't do it for me, whitch is Good Company. A suprise maybe but one album that I actually regard more as a perfect album is Queen first debut album. I love every track! I think it's one of their greatest album yet somehow I can't really rate it perfect, maybe because it's their first album or because the album lacks audio quality. Now of course all these albums are still classics in my eyes but I just wanted to know if people really think there's such a thing as a perfect album. Please share your thoughts or discuss. |

A Day At The Races (my fave one is Innuendo, but most perfect album is ADATR, IMHO). |

a night at the opera,a bands perfect album need not be your favorite just the most realized. like kiss, alive/ yes, fragile/ genesis, selling england by the pound/ rainbow, long live rock n roll/ chris deburgh, at the end of a perfect day/ rush, 2112/ angel, on earth as it is in heaven/ beatles, sgt. pepper, and the list goes on, and on, and on........keep good company! |

I'm elated to read that there are at least a few other Queen fans that rank ADATR right at the top. I bought it in 1979 -- when I was 10! -- and it has always been a special album for me. It is a glass of fine red wine resting on a piano. Queen's most (and perhaps only) romantic album. Only Innuendo or Made In Heaven may be more emotive. |

Queen II is my favorite, but it doesn't show their musical diversity like other albums. I'd say ANATO is the perfect one IMHO though it's the obvious one.... |
Freya is quietly judging you. 18.03.2006 18:19 |
I think Sheer Heart Attack is pretty much perfect, it's got all the different aspects of Queen on one album. |
Cricket Nutter 18.03.2006 18:50 |
Queen 2 definitely, ANATO almost, SHA almost, MIH almost. Innuendo is almost almost, as are ADATR, NOTW, and Queen 1! :-D Then The Game and Jazz are very good, followed by The Works, then The Miracle, then Flash, then Hot Space In my opinion! Sorry I strayed off topic lol, Queen 2 is perfect As for the original poster regarding Funny How Love Is... as a standalone song, it isn't very good, but to me it bridges the gap between MOTBQ and SSOR ever so well. |
The Classic 18.03.2006 18:50 |
I'd stick with Innuendo. Even though there is a song or two on the album that I don't love, I can sit down and listen to it from start to finish without feeling like I wasted a few minutes. The beauty of Queen is that on every album... there are fewer crappy songs than good songs. In most people's albums... they might have a few really good songs, then everything else is puke worthy. But Queen... the majority of it is good - great...with little below the good marker. Later |
sbrown 18.03.2006 19:05 |
I'd have to say Queen 2...so solid from start to finish. Brilliant album. ANATO and ADATR are also 'perfect'. That's probably about it. I want to say Innuendo, but Delilah lets it down. |
ibanez122 18.03.2006 19:34 |
Every album is perfect in its own way. Not just one - thats my opinion atleast. |
blerp 18.03.2006 20:40 |

am i the only one who thinks Queen II isnt that great of an album? I like it, but i think there are 5 better Queen albums, ANATO, SHA, ADATR, Innuendo, NOTW Queen II seems to lack a few things then those other albums, and just dosent flow as well. However on Queen II, i do love the first 4 songs, espcially some day one day.... |
Going Back 19.03.2006 10:47 |
well there's one album i could give every song perfect 10 it is Innuendo and on album Made In Heaven i woulg give every song perfect 10 accept one song what is worth 9. so those two albums are for me perfect! |
wishingwell 19.03.2006 11:08 |
Probably ADATR. |

No. There is no such thing. It all depends on personal taste. It isn't a fact that a Queen album is perfect. You may find it, but that doesn't mean it IS perfect. It's relative. |

Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack are as close as Queen comes to "perfection"...while I wouldn't consider either the best album Queen ever did (I think Opera and Innuendo are both superior), neither album has any glaring weakness; Opera suffers from Good Company, which doesn't fit thematically or musically with the rest of the album (and has no business being after Love of My Life and before Bohemian Rhapsody). Likewise, Delilah is a terrible track and drags Innuendo down. Queen II works because of the flow of the album. Both the White and Black sides flow brilliantly; the way Procession moves into Father to Son (maybe the only album Queen did in which the opening tracks were the best tracks), while Ogre Battle/Fairy Feller/Nevermore all, of course, flow seamlessly and are followed up by the thematically similar March of the Black Queen, which in turn flows right into Funny How Love Is. Sheer Heart Attack works because of the way the music is so varied without being too disjointing. I can't explain it, but following Stone Cold Crazy with Dear Friends WORKS...I like the way the album goes from hard rock to glam to hard rock to glam. Brighton Rock to Killer Queen to Tenement Funster to Flick of the Wrist, Lily of the Valley to Now I'm Here to In the Lap of the Gods to Stone Cold Crazy. The rest of the songs alternate, too - a piano ballad in Dear Friends to upbeat Carribean in Misfire to ragtime in Leeroy Brown, then onto the bizarre and unclassifiable She Makes Me, and finally to glam rock in Lap of the Gods....Revisited. The fact that they managed to combine so many styles and still create a listenable album is brilliant. It is also one of the few albums by Queen I can put on and never want to skip a track. |

Britney Spears' albums went platinum as well. That doesn't make them perfect at all. |

It all depends on how you define perfect. IMO ANATO doesn't have a bad song on it....yep, even Sweet Lady. About as close as you're gonna get. |

Queen II It is the perfect album to define Queen. |
violonbleu 13.04.2006 09:15 |
In my mind, Flash Gordon is the worse... In QUEEN I, I love all the songs, so it's perfect to me; In QUEEN II, all is perfect; In SHEER HEART ATTACK, I was a little bit disappointed with some songs, as "She Makes Me"...and the end of "In The Laps Of The Gods...revisited"...so, not perfect In A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, all is not perfect to me: there is something strange to the ear with some chorus in the middle of Prophet's Song... In A DAY AT THE RACES, I agree: all is perfect In NEWS OF THE WORLD, I don't like very much All Dead All Dead...but very very good album as well In JAZZ, all is perfect to me In THE GAME...all is perfect!! I don't like very much FLASH GORDON...but is this an album really? I don't think so. In THE WORKS, there is not enough songs, but all are perfect... In A KIND OF MAGIC, all the songs of the album are perfect; but "A kind of 'a kind of magic'" and the mix of FWBF are not perfect. Too much bonus tracks... In THE MIRACLE, I think that if there was no remix of Invisible Man, no Chinese Torture, it would be the Most Perfect album of Queen, in my mind. INNUENDO: Even with "I can't live with you"which I don't like very much, it's a perfect album. SOOOOO...: The perfects Queen albums to me are: QUEEN I, QUEEN II, A DAY AT THE RACES, JAZZ, THE GAME, THE MIRACLE -without bonus tracks-, INNUENDO. I forgot "MADE IN HEAVEN": in his way, it is a perfect album, because it is a very good work in the memory of Freddie Mercury. I think that if they want to do a new album with Paul, it HAS TO be PERFECT, as Miracle or Innuendo. Paul has to do his best. I don't know what do think the others of the band about a new album, but 1) Roger think that it WILL happen 2) Brian is not sure but is sure that they will go on with something 3) Paul is not against... I stop it now :-) |
