Bootlegs by definition are produced in as large a quantity as possible. Some specific editions do acquire mysterious mythical scarcity, but as a casual student of the genre I don't personally see any major rarities there.
They're probably worth more to you.
On link you can find what most bootlegs are worth.
I know for a fact that Get Down (UK version) is worth about $30 and Done Under Pressure about $40.
I haven't checked the price on QueenPictureHall but that's what a friend of mine got for his copy's.
"Back in the day", the Mannheim one was counted as quite a rarity. One issue of the now-defunct Vox magazine put it at about £70.
I haven't seen it in a shop or ebay for years, so I don't know. I have it, paid 50p for it at a car boot sale cos the owner didn't know its worth.
Digital has killed bootleg records, unfortunately. I'm sure they're not even made now. All those that were made have surely been transposed to a digital stream somewhere in the internet.
Alas.
Though I must say I have a very large working record collection. Most new release are available on LP. With the right equipment they outperform CD. I encourage you to look after yours.
Hi there,
thanks for the information.
Back in the 90s i've paid the price they're worth now.
Of course i will keep and take good care of them.
Even if they won't increase in value.
Nice to have anyway.
A bit off topic, but I always find it amazing that a quite large number of Queen bootleg LPs still(after 20+ years in some cases) represent the best version of a show or a particular source that is available. For some shows those are the only versions as apparently noone has come across a non LP sourced copy from the master tapes yet.
Half the time the transfers to digital are horrible with just dumb mistakes (one channel lower than the other, bad needles, etc.). So it's good these records are still around. Even if they've been transferred to digital it's possible someone else can transfer them better :)
Yes, that's true. I don't want to know how many LPs were transferred without being cleaned before the transfer and just by hooking up the amp to some $20 Soundblaster soundcard. :-(
