I enjoy reading Brians rants despite not agreeing with half of what he says. But hey, it's his website and I feel that I need to be aware of other peoples opinions and thoughts If I am to be informed. Brian is talking about an award show he recently attended and how much he disliked the event. He said.. "The same little clique of people smugly patting each other on the back for another year. I could never take it seriously. It's a bit like "The World Series" in the place I'm about to visit .... they have no idea there is a world outside" I assume the place he is about to visit is the States. I am a Brit. I have lived in the states for 16 years and though I miss England, I could never go back. The lifestyle I have worked for here could never be achieved in England, and that's a fact. I have several friends living here from England, Australia, France and a few other European countries who are all professionals, do well here and plan on returning home to retire with the wealth they will be able to accumulate here. Fine. Most of them knock the states constantly. No, we know things are not perfect here. Never have been, never will be. Why do people seem to think the States needs to be held to a higher standard than everywhere else? I think it's good to question and discuss, but get SICK of people doing VERY well in the country they seem to hate so much. A 4 bedroomed house on 3 acres, 2 cars, boat, way to much food, plasma tv,s etc etc ain't bad. And this is average. So this brings me to Brian. He is coming with his band and has people like me paying $300 for two tickets plus hotels and food etc for a concert, and I can't wait. Queen, who are not from America, will / have made boatloads of money from people who have no idea of the world outside which presumably includes the world of music. I guess as I get older, and I am a LOT older than you guys reading this, get tired of hypocrisy. It's hard to be consistent, but if you can't, perhaps it's best to keep quiet, lest you start making a fool out of yourself. Perhaps it's too late. Brian last month found a way to link the Bush administration to the decision to change the wrapping on English candy bars. Hmmm. |

What is whinning? Brian can say what he wants, and post what he wants on his own site. I take everything with a grain of salt. If it upsets you that much, don't read it. I disagree with nearly every political position that the man has, but why get upset over it? |

Personally, I find his comments extremely interesting, whether I agree with them is neither here nor there, the fact that he allows us to understand the way he looks at life makes it easier to understand why he has composed some of the worlds greatest rock songs. Why do people get so upset about the fact he has an opinion? Isn't that what a blog is about? or am I missing something? If your not interested then just listen to the music, if you don't like that, then why are you hear? Nobody is holding a gun to your head and making you read. Seems to me people on this website just like to complain. They don't like the new line up, they hate the re-masters, they don't like his blog, they hate the new CD/DVD. Why are you guys here? |

I should say sorry to Coops, this wasn't particularly aimed at you, I am just fed up with seeing folk moan about everything. I am sure I'm not alone... |

I'm quite glad that the man HAS an opinion to impart. Too often, celebs are uninformed; and if they are informed, can't string a sentence together. Write on, Brian. |

Maybe my brain's a little frazzled at the mo, what with an exam and the mind boggling video editing I'm doing. But I didn't get the point the first post was trying to make. Peace, Adam. EDIT: But I do agree that there has been a lot of complaining on here lately. |

So basically what everyone is saying is that although Brian is entitled to his own opinion, the starter of this topic is not. That's odd....especially considering the topic starter stated his opinion in a very non-confrontational way. He even opened his post with "I enjoy reading Brians rants despite not agreeing with half of what he says. But hey, it's his website..." It seems many people read want they want to read, completely oblivious to the surrounding text. |
coops 02.03.2006 10:08 |
Well it seems Brian got some flack and apologized today. Guess he realizes that it's not a good idea to bite the hand that feeds him. |

The thing that puts me off is that it appears Brian's distaste for the theatre crowd is that they're insular since they haven't recognized the sold-out wonder that is the WWRY musical. WWRY is non-traditonal 'theatre', the story is absurd to the point of embarassment and it's culture for the masses, everything Queen's early, and greatest works weren't. I sense that if an award were floated Brian's way by this crowd he'd be a big fan, and while agreeing that he can state whatever he wants on his soapbox, he appears petty with this stuff. |
john bodega 02.03.2006 23:26 |
"So basically what everyone is saying is that although Brian is entitled to his own opinion, the starter of this topic is not." No, you've got it all wrong. The starter of the topic can have his opinion till he's blue in the face, I'm merely expressing my opinion in turn - which is that they're a little bitch. |

i like that he made a joke on the world series in his latest post. I thought it was cute |

I think Mr. Brian May can say whatever he wants to say!! I always LOVE to read what he has to say! He's incredible! |

Leave Brian alone, it's his site, his opinions! |
john bodega 04.03.2006 11:45 |
Though I kinda wish he'd turn the site into a continuously updating autobiography. His anecdotes, while sometimes sketchy on the details (depending on how far back you go) are actually really good reading. That and I love when he speculates over things like revisiting Mr. Bad Guy stuff. I would dearly love to hear more stuff like that! |
