The reason why this world is so fucked up is because people choose to take sides when they see two wrongs. You might acknowledge the least wrong, but still recognize that there's a lot of things that are not quite correct about either one. |

The problem with the UN is that they are afraid to do anything. I like FreddieGhettoTrench's example of hotel Rwanda. If you havent seen it, its about the massacre of the Tutsis by the Hutus. One Hutu said how they could kill 1000 Tutsis in 20 minutes. Thats 50 per minute- which is damn close to 1 a second. And what was the UN's answer to the US's idea of action? "Not Somalia" Not to mention that Rwanda was on the UN with a Hutu as their representative. Im not saying that the UN isnt a step in the right direction but it still needs work. |

There's a lot of moderate politicians, and heads of local government authorities (in both parties) who are not particuarly happy with the way things are being handled, and who are open to ideas and comments from people who want a things heading towards a better future. I also see a teenager who makes too many assumptions about other posters on a noticeboard. And, finally, I see a teenager who fails to understand that citizenship often means questioning the workings of power. Blindly accepting anything, right or left, is worthless. I see where you're coming from, yet I still think you are a total fucking prick. Let's clump everything I just said into one large group, and we'll go into detail. The only reason we act like the "International Police Force" is because we really felt threatened by the goings on in Iraq and Afganistan either by their governments or by terrorist groups sending people over to kill thousonds of people. We feel we need to stop these groups before anything else happens. I also don't see one time during the Bush Administration where we didn't intervene when we needed to. That "boycott of the US" is really silly. How will that help and how will you do that great ruler of people's opinions? I also find it funny that you call Bush a nazi. I laughed when I read that part. What atrocities in Iraq by the way? Also, no one apart from maybe .00000000000001% like what those few soldiers did to the prisoners in Afganistan. Just to let you know. A complete withdrawal would put Iraq in a state of civil war and many people would be killed, good people too. When a relative of mine fought down in Iraq, so many of the people were greatful that he was there and keeping terrorists from cooming into Iraq from Syria, he recieved gifts, hugs, and the satisfaction of knowing because he was there, he saved these people's lives. Think about that for a second. By the way, we tried cutting our army down after a big war known as World War 2. That's how we lost at Vietnam. We need our military no matter what to protect ourselves from the many groups that threaten and/or attack us. If we just laid down and said "We will never fight again" how many people will die, hundreds? thousands? You think if we cut down our military and stop fighting, we'll be closer to world peace while I believe if we continue to fight and remove the threat of terrorism in the Middle East, the world WILL be that much closer to world peace. Apart from that, what other groups are that much if a threat? I also believe that you can not see past your own idealistic views and into the reality of the world today. A lot of reply letters are categorized depending on who sends them (senior citizens, kids, teenagers, etc.), and in most cases they're not even written by the politician himself, but by their personal assistants. All that a politician might do is sign the letter. Although, I'm sure that in most cases they will stamp the signature into the letter so the person who gets it will think that the politician actually took time to reply. I could send a letter to a politician addressed by a dog, sign it with his paw print, and still get an appreciation reply. |

Republicans are more likely to take things to the extremes. In this case, to the extreme side of the conservative/right. However, Democrats don't come up with any ideas of how to make things better. Democrats are divided among themselves because while being the most moderate of both parties, they can't even agree among themselves whether to lean more to towards the right or towards the left. |

Sorry to steer away from where the topic is going, but one thing I hate is how the US soldiers are getting so much crap from some of you people. FYI, our Army (Navy Seals, Marines, etc.) are not doing anything that some of you are saying they are doing. There was ONE report of prisoner abuse in Afganistan. That has already been resolved. But, where do you hear that our soldiers are beating up children, bombing weddings, etc. : THE MEDIA. From what it soulds like, everything you are hearing has been skewed by the media. I KNOW people who were and still are over there. I can honestly say our soldiers aren't doing any of the things you say they are doing. If our soldiers were found out to be doing any of those things, they'd be arrested, and brought to trial. The only people who are doing these things: bombing weddings, beating up kids, are the terrorists we are protecting these people from. Now, come on! Get your information straightened out! Oh, and ThomasQuinn, you need help. SERIOUS help... |

The media doesn't know half the shit that possibly goes on in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo. God knows how many violations of human rights have happened that haven't been documented on Kodak moments (like Abu Ghraib). Yes, perhaps many of our soldiers follow all the codes of treatment of human beings according to the Geneva Convention. Yet, there's also a very strong possibility that many of them don't give a shit about it, and take justice into their very own hands. Of course, there will always be a superior willing to cover-up any sort of abuse and make sure it goes unreported. Just look at that asshole Rumsfeld himself trying to make sure that those Abu Ghraib pictures wouldn't get leaked into the media. Personally I'm sick and tired of the whole "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" shit. I'm fed up with the whole "THEY'RE FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM" crap. How is our freedom threatened anyways?? Why do we have to send our soldiers to start a war in a nation that turns out to be was never a threat in the first place? It just sickens me. You wanna know something? I support the troops. I want them to be where they belong... HOME. How come we didn't send troops to New Orleans to help restore the order, help rescue victims, and re-build the city after hurricaine Katrina? They sent a limited number of members of the National Guard who arrived to the zone of disaster 5 days late. Of course to our fuckin' retarded president an entire city destructed is not a major issue. |

His family had been desperately searching for him for months, and they finally found him, brain dead in a Tikrit hospital. After performing diagnostic tests, doctors told his family he had suffered massive head trauma, electrocution, and other beatings on his arms. The family was told he would be in a coma for the rest of his life from the obvious trauma suffered from torture. It turns out that American soldiers had dropped him off at the hospital, saying he had had a heart attack. In a similar story, the Arab newspaper Al-Bawaba reported the presidential secretary of former leader Saddam Hussein died two days ago while in U.S. custody. He had been taken into custody in June. Reports in the Arabic press noted he was tortured by U.S. investigators to pressure him to provide information on weapons development programs. An Iraqi mother has written to President Bush and other top politicos around the world to ask them to explain why her son was deliberately murdered by U.S. troops. In her heart-wrenching letter, she explained that her 19-year-old son, who was soon to be married, was returning home with friends when their truck broke down. After being confronted by an American patrol, they were searched and handcuffed, and led three kilometers to a nearby dam, then ordered to jump into the raging waters. One of the three boys survived to tell the tale, but her son, who could not swim, was never found, only his jacket. Then as a final signature, U.S. soldiers flattened the boys' vehicle by running over it with heavy equipment. The distraught mother, wrote: "To document the incident, my son's name is Zaydun Ma'mun Fadhil Hassun Al-Samarrai, born in the 1st of June 1984...Yes, they killed him and they broke my heart, try to imagine that dear sirs and ask your wives how hard it is for a mother to see her fruit ripen only to be thrown by sinful hands and to be swept away without any mercy or humanity. Those soldiers have turned everything America has ever stood for into one big lie. I was a victim, and there are and will be many more."
