I am a person who is very partial to dating people one should meet in the real world, so consider that. However, to dismiss internet dating as stupid is purely unfounded and somewhat ignorant, especially when one has little to no experience in the field. |

But I can safely say I will NEVER go out with anyone over the internet...and you can hold that to me. :P It's just the way I was brought up I hope I didn't offend anyone in saying that but again, that only counts for me! What's happening with me and Sasha was the last thing i ever expected to happen, i never thought i would 'Internet date' ever, but if you find someone really special you change your mind on the whole thing... Never say never :P |

Dating is actually a method of getting to know someone. If you hit it off on the internet, you might have a good chance of hitting it off in real life. Therefore, you can move from the internet to real life. Under rare circumstances, obviously, should you go directly from internet dating to something like marriage. But don't discount it because it is not as personal as real dating. Many internet relationships seem to be actually several times more fulfilling than half the real life relationships I've seen. |

Come on, I wasn't trying to offend you so please don't try to offend me. I never dismissed "internet dating as stupid." I have no problem with people who establish relationships on the internet, its just not for me. Besides, I live in a college town so there are lots of single girls I meet and I just find that easier and more practical than trying to meet someone online. Apologies if I offended you as that was not my intention. |

Unless you "dismissed internet dating as stupid," which you state in your reply, I meant not to direct this at you. I respect your opinions and preferences, internet dating is not for me either! Also, people become offended too easily at the word "ignorance." It merely is a word which states that you are making decisions or assumptions based on incomplete information.Music Man wrote: I am a person who is very partial to dating people one should meet in the real world, so consider that. I believe internet dating is fine, and just another way of meeting new people. It shouldn't be considered as pernament, of course, but only the beginning of a relationship which must be tested in real life too. I agree internet relationships can be more fulfilling than real life ones, sometimes. I think it mostly has to do with the fact that it is much easier to fantasize about someone when you can guess and dream about them. I've had a few experiences with internet dating. Sometimes there was disappointment on one or both sides when we met in real life, other times a beautiful relationship of friendship or love began. Since internet friendships are often long-distance, that can be an issue. That's why now I'm trying to restrict dating to my area...But I never say never to anything, especially about matters of the heart :-). |

I couldn't imagine internet dating. It might work for some of yous, but I couldn't imagine not being able to hug someone, or hold hands, or even just seeing them. It's only like getting part of what you want. :-/ |
