We all know about the strang things truned out in Freddie's will.
Well, I propose you to think about what you would have done if you had been Freddie.
OK, you meet the most close to the "love" of your life and spend seven years with him. You tell him you have a terminal very contagious disease, and despite of this terrible fact he still stays with you, he takes care of you, you call him your "Husband".
What would have you done? Would you have left him more than freddie did?Am I the only one to think Mary inheriting everything is a little weird?
I certainly would have left him the Garden lodge and pat of the royalties, not all the estate to Mary.He certainly proved to love Freddie a lot and I believed he diserved some more than what he got.
Can't say for sure. Not without knowing the intimate (not sexual) details of their relationship. Judging by Jim's book, I'd say it wasn't all that stable. Yes, Jim stayed by his side during his entire illness, but so did Mary, Peter and the others. When Freddie wrote up his will, I'd suppose he took into account the depth of his relationships with each of the people in his life. Mary came out on top - as the most stable and consistent friend/companion/love of his life. Clearly, he trusted her more than he trusted anyone else.
Personally, I think he was right to do so - though I'm the first to admit, I don't know details. What I see is that she has remained quiet. She hasn't sold him out by writing a book about his most private thoughts and moments. She hasn't exploited her relationship with him at all. Yes, we, as fans, want to know this stuff, that's why we bought Jim's book and Peter's book, BUT Mary is the only one to keep Freddie's precious private life private - as he wanted.
I'd say he made a wise choice with his fortune.
well, I didn't mean mary didn't deserve that money, it was freddie's will, anyway. But I think Jim's role there was so important. He was not only taking care of him, he was his loving sexual partner all those years, and I think it was bold of him and that he really helped freddie to feel very loved. But I understand what you say and of course he had his reasons, maybe he promised her or something and he really trusted her and she was the love of his life, but if I'd been freddie I certainly would have left Jim more.
I feel Freddie thought about the fact that having Mary recieve the bulk of his estate including Garden Lodge would ensure that it was being used for her and her children. Freddie was the god father of her oldest son. He had mentioned before that Mary was the love of his life and she had always been there for him.
Think about leaving Jim Garden Lodge. What stability would there be? Did Freddie want to think about him living there with different guys. Was he really a responsible person. In Jims book he said he built a house in Ireland which Freddie funded. It ended up costing alot more that originally anticipated. This house was Jims, why would he need another one.I think he made a good choice.

I didn't know freddie had bought a house for Jim in Ireland. Or did Jim himself buy the house with the half million pounds Freddie left him?.:)

It was built when Freddie was still alive. He gave the money to Jim to build it. At first it was a loan but the Freddie gifted to him Freddie was involved with the progress of it.Its in his book Mercury and me.
I have the book "Queen:In their own words" and there's a Freddie quote in their that says "My parents are in my will, and so are my cats, but the vast bulk of it will go to Mary. If I dropped dead tomorrow, Mary's the one person I know who could cope with my vast wealth."
