Iam interested in this recording has anybody heard that? also was the whole Time musical filmed? |
Serry... 03.01.2006 04:53 |
There's fake "live recording" circulating. Non-fake recording exists too. Filmed Freddie's performance? No, it wasn't filmed. |
abe 03.01.2006 05:07 |
Serry I think it was a real tragedy that concert wasn't filmed, nor I believe was Mercury's last ever performance in October 88, however with insight, who knew then that it would be he's last live performance?? |

I have A version - I don't know whether it is real or fake or even if it is the one you mean! |
Asterik 03.01.2006 05:45 |
Abe, the October '88 concert was recorded and is on the Freddie mercury DVD;not the whole thing as you say but Freddie's part. You're spot on about the Time performance- it's a travesty that it hasn't been properly recorded. No one could have known at the time that the Barca concert would be his last or do you think there was a feeling amongst Queen fans that may have seen them live for the final time in '86. |
john bodega 03.01.2006 13:13 |
I've seen 2 photos of it though. They're at this site. |
Wiley 03.01.2006 16:46 |
Actually, he's talking about Freddie's performance (part of it with Cliff Richards) in the Dominion Theater (I believe). The one in the DVD is from 1987 with Montserrat Caballé. Wiley |

Once again,Thanks Asterik for the info, I will endeavour to to get my hands on any recordings from those last 2 performances. In regards to whether Queen fans felt they may have been seeing Queen for the last time in 86, I believe only from a point of view that Queen may have been splitting up due to the press reports at the time about on going disagreements within the band, remember Mercury's comments during the Wembley concert about " there talking from here" referring to the press saying Queen were going to call it quits? So I dont think Queen fans in general thought there was anything wrong with Mercury's health at that point of time which they thought would contribute to the band splitting up. I think fans real concerns around Mercury's health came about in mid 89 during the Miracle release, which you and I have discussed here before to some length, however there are some people who will try and tell you Mercury was ill as early 83/84!!! |

It would be interesting to find people who attended that musical and that actually recorded the songs |

To answer your question Flash, I dont think Mercury was ill in 83/84, what I was saying is that some people have written that on this site, yes perhaps maybe he caught the disease as early as 84, remember HIV can remain idle for quite some time without progressing to full blown AIDS. Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS officially in 87 according to Jim Hutton, and as we see in many different photos and clips, Mercury's physical appearance began to change for the worse then onwards. Even at Mercury's last show in October 88 there is visible evedence that Mercury has had laser treatment to remove KS, look at the blotches on hes cheeks, this is what intensive laser treatment leaves behind. I am only answering your question based on the numerous amount of info I have read over time. All the best |

I think the loss of the moustache exasarbated the physical changes in '87/88 but I stil reckon he could have performed live in those two years- not touring but just a one-off. |

"there are some people who will try and tell you Mercury was ill as early 83/84!!!" Ill, maybe not. But you can bet he had the HIV in him. That's just how it operates - he could have it in him ten years before the AIDS starts going orf. The show in April 88 - he's great in that, but unfortunately, I've only heard one clear recording, which was the song "It's in Every One Of Us". Sounds great there, I just wish someone could get rid of Cliff Richard. He does great on In My Defence as well. And I think there's a 3rd song he did... but I'm pretty sure the 4th one was mimed. |
