I got this album for christmas and i dont no why so manyt people dislike it. I think it is one of their best. Maybe it isnt as sophisticated as their previous works but it shows a heavier more raw sound of queen which i think is great. This is my opinion of coarse but its better than news of the world. What you you think.
I agree Serry! I first got it when it came out in 78 as a 13 year old. I loved it then and still do but critics were't too thrilled with it. They were still expecting product similar to ANATO and songs like Liar. I don't think they wanted to repeat themselves by making the same kind of albums but all their trademarks are still there. The running order does suck though. Let Me Entertain You would have been a nice opener.
I like Jazz too. It's fresh and exciting much the best of Queen's post ANATO work for me (saving for Innuendo or NOTW perhaps. Taht said the running order is poor. Her eis my suggestion
Let Me Entertain You
Bicycle Race
If You Can't Beat Them
Dreamer's Ball
In Only Seven Days
Mustapha
Fun It
Jealousy
Fat Bottomed Girls
Leaving Home Ain't Easy
Dead On Time
Don't Stop Me Now
More Of That Jazz
Asterik, like your order, I would just take Mustapha out and put it back first, then keep everything as is. It's a nice fast opener, and seemingly unexpected.

meh..anyhoo...Jazz is a great album but as it has been said before, the order needs changing.
the ones we hate Hot Space is because we REALLY like the REAL Queen, and not every shit with the Queen logo on it.

And what is REAL Queen, if their studio album doesn't count for you?
I love the Bee Gees, Electric Light Orchestra
and I like very much Donna Summer and other disco artists
and Hot Space still sucks
it's not about the genre, it's about the poor quality of the songs, the recording and the interpretation.
It's an album without elaboration, without production, it lacks arrangements.
In Cool Cat, Freddie sings out of tune... I mean... WTF?? Freddie going out of tune?? But yes, it is out of tune... it's the prove that they didn't spend much time thinking about what should they do on the album, neither what should they do WITH the album.
I don't mind about the genre, that could never be the problem. It's about other things, as I said above.
Under Pressure's a great song, thanks to Bowie...
Las Palabras de Amor is just a nice song... nothing out of the blue. It's not even as good as Save Me.
Put Out The Fire is the typical rock song...
Calling All Girls is awful... the lyrics are so damn stupid!!!
Back Chat doesn't say anything at all!!
Hot Space's song can be written by any other band in the world... it's too simple, too common.
There is no QUEEN in Hot Space. It's an album of any other band, but not Queen. It has no imagination at all, no creativity.
And Hot Space has the worst Queen vocal interpretation ever... it seems that Freddie wasn't in his best moment when he recorded those songs... that might be another reason why I don't like that album...
