This may have been brought up before im not sure, but...
Did anyone else notice this before that on the actual CD case it says on the last track on NEWS OF THE WORLD WWRY remix and underneath in ()'s it says ruined by rick rubin, and i listened to it once, and i couldnt have agreed more, it made me want to see this rubin fellow and give him a punch in the face!
I think its a total rubbish remix, it really messes up a Queen masterpiece, does anyone else agree? And if u disagree, id like to know why please.
Cheers all!
You probably haven't heard his other remixes of WWRY and WATC... That one you're talking about not the worst one of them, maybe because of RHCP members playing on it...

U mean there's worse versions out there... well im glad i havent heard them.
RHCP?? not sure what that is...

Well maybe he is a "legend"... but i still cant believe what he did to WWRY...
But like i said in the first post, i j/ want to know what other ppl think...cuz the fact that i find it unlistenable is merely my opinion.
It's been a while since I've given it a proper listen, but I really liked the "original" Ruined Remix. When the heavier drums come in after the song would normally finish, I just think it works really well. The WATC remix was abysmal, and the other "mixes", if you can call them that, were just a-cappella or instrumental takes.
But yes, Rick Rubin's Ruined Remix does actually get the thumbs up here!
Wow, im actually surprised by how many people acutally like it...
Thats cool...
I duno i j/ think maybe its a little to hip-hoppy for that song... it kinda clashes w/ freddies singing a lil bit IMHO.
Actually the remix sounds a bit constructed and too many scratches and stuff IMO in the beginning - but adding Flea and Chad in the end, and the idea of making the closing chords of the guitar solo a "new" riff is absolutely brilliant and really rocks. Almost turns the solo into a song in it's own right. Great stuff.

I guess ill have to listen to it and reevaluate it then. I agree on the scratching part, too much of it definatly... But hmm... so many good reviews, perhaps i should give it a listen again... Ill give it a shot

What would you think about Antony fronting for Queen?
I dont know... Mixed i guess, i really dont know hed have the power/range to pull it off...
It may be interesting, but as i said, im not really a big RHCP fan.
I would love to see Paul McCartney tho.
But i also think that Paul Rodgers does a fantastic job.
For some reason, this remix is one of the few that I really, really like. I think it may be because News Of The World was the first Queen album I ever got when I was 10, and I layed it back-to-front many many times over. There's really nothing about it that I don't like, though I can see why people wouldn't like it.

as much as i adore RHCP, anthony would not be able to pull most of the songs off. i think his range is about 2 octaves.
i havent heard the remix by them, is there some link someone could send me to hear?
and from what i understadn chad smith did one of the remixes on the Queen albums. dont remember which one tho
as for the rick rubin, the over dubbing guitars at the end, the annoying lil sound after teh scratch that continues thruout hte song and the trumpet parts we can do with out. and hte skiping and the lil off-beat drum. ...yeha basically keep the oignial and add the echo and thats it
Yes thats how i feel about it. But i have yet to listen to it again, but obviously im not really in a rush to, but i will try it...
