I've just got the Jan 2006 edition of Classic Rock and it includes a free cd containing 12 cover versions of Queen tracks : I don't think there are any specially recorded versions, I think most if not all are available elsewhere but it's an interesting collection.
Track listing :
Bohemian Rhapsody : Grey DeLisle
One Vision : James LaBrie / Bruce Bouittet
Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy : Jason Mraz
Tie Your Mother Down : Talisman
Stone Cold Crazy : Enuff Z'Nuff
Don't Stop Me Now : The Vandals
I Want It All : Robin McAuley & Chris Impellitteri
Fat Bottomed Girls : Hayseed Dixie
It's Late : Anthrax
Another One Bites The Dusts : Batfish Boys
Save Me : Jeff Scott Soto & Bruce Kulick
We Will Rock You : Jeff Scott Soto
The cover of the cd is an adaptation of the 'A Night At The Opera'
As for the magazine (which I think is the best mag around at the moment) the cover is an early 70's pic of Freddie and the main feature is 8 pages based around the making of 'A Night At The Opera'
Not a bad buy at £4.25
The cross between AOBTD and Hendrix's "Purple Haze" is fun! And I was always a huge fan of It's Late by Anthrax...! But basically yes- the CD is kind of crappy... But the article is nice- old, pretty known interviews but it's a really nice read- I'm buying CR anyway...
I’m certain I read the interview at the time in Melody Maker but good to read it again and see how things were at the time for Queen - just about to be huge!
