Dear Lord, did you do the '39 bass and vox remix from the DVD-A 5.1 release? Only reason I ask, is since I don't quite understand the technology involved, there are times when Brian vocal (particularly in the "ooh, calling you" part) sounds like a guide or demo vocal. Is there that much detail on the 5.1 releases, as I've never heard anything like that on the vinyl or Hollywood release. Thanks for your time.
I think it's just that you don't hear that part of Brian's vocal in the 'full' version, as it's masked by the other instruments and backing vocals. Whether Brian knew it was more apparent in the 5.1 mix and decided to leave it in, or even if it's from a 'demo' take, I can't answer.
By the way, I didn't actually 'do' this mix - it's a straight rip from the DVD-A. All I did, was isolate the channels with DVD-Audio Extractor and Sony Soundforge. It's actually debatable whether it should have been posted here, as technically it's 'official' material, but as it isn't in it's original form, I think we can get away with it. ;)
It will be very interesting to see what hidden 'secrets' further 5.1 mixes will uncover - if there ever are any. I have heard rumours of ADATR and QII, but all seems quiet from the official corner.
Really? I've listened to that song thousands of times and never heard the faint "ooh-ooh calling you." I relented and bought the 30th anniversary collection (arrggh!) a few weeks back and will get to hear it in 5.1 on Christmas Eve. I hope to discover all those little hidden things that you can't pick up on a normal stereo mix.

Bear in mind, the ANATO30 mix is different to the original DVD-A mix. Might still be there though. ;)
