He was nominated for the peace prize for the 2nd time (1st time in 1985 for Live Aid), and lost, but that is because the Nobel Committee feels (and rightly so) that there are much more important people that instead won...
....BUT, the Nobel committee felt so strongly that Geldof deserved some sort of recognition for all he has done in the last 2 decades, on behalf of Africa and 3rd world poverty, AIDS, starvation, fair trade, etc. they CREATED this award...just for him. link

You got his solo CDs yet don't have all of Freddie's yet? WOW! And Freddie's charted better!
Bob Geldof is a caring person, but the only reason he is famous is due to LIVE AID, not his music.

Don't worry Arlene, I'll fill you in on all the details afterwards. :P
I'm seeing him at the Norwich LCR on the 17th November. Apparently, he'll be retelling some of his experiences and playing with his current band. Luckily, it's a rather small venue so it should be pretty cosy, lol.

Haha, nice idea. :-)
You are SO lucky!!!! Yes, making a banner would be nice! :-)
I have been reading about him remastering and reissuing his entire solo record career catalogue,....
...and also remastering and reissuing the entire Boomtown Rats record back catalogue as well....
...and putting his band back together for this U.K. tour that you will be seeing him on.
I have a British import CD. ''Loudmouth The Best Of The Boomtown Rats and Bob geldof'' that I got like over a decade ago. It's GREAT!!!!
Have a STUPENDOUS time and I can't wait to hear from you...all about it!!!! :D

If you look on the left hand side, you'll see wherebouts Norwich is in the Uk, but the LCR itself is in the part of Norwich labelled Earlham on there.. I didnt know how to really explain without the help of Multimap :P
Just read an article that says Sir Bob though he staged Live 8 to raise the public's and G8 Summit Leaders awareness to aid Africa, but NOT to raise funds from the public, Live 8 STILL raised a ton of money, which the Band Aid Trust will use to feed and provide medical aid to people in Africa.
Go Sir Bob!
Did anyone see him on the COVER of the October 2005 British GQ Magazine as one of GQ's Men of the year?
They dressed him to the nines in very dapper, stylish clothing and he looked HOT!!!!
They had a great interview with him about Live 8, his career, his reissuing his solo records and his NEW solo tour!
