Why is it that when I read a CD booklet, I can return it to the slip-case in pristine condition, yet, when my friend reads CD booklets, he leaves his fingerprints all over it?
Don't you just HATE it?
Or, am I just being too anal about the whole thing?
Not at all. I'm the same way, especially if the booklet is darker colored - black or blue being the culprits. It bothers the hell out of me, and I do everything within my power to touch the booklet very carefully so that nothing messes it up.
I've also learned not to let my friends touch my stuff. I've lost many friends over this, but have kept my collection in decent shape.
My stuff that I don't want little fingers to touch has to be very high up off the ground. I've got some collector's item Barbies and Cameron has had her eyes on them ever since she was 1. I'm thinking of buying one of those safes to put my precious little things in. My son is half monkey and can climb like you wouldn't believe.
My friends, I just tell them they can look but don't touch...they listen better than children do.

It's the prblem of having to deal with jerks who don't care a jot if the stuff is not theirs...but the worse is when the booklet comes back with the ears of the pages crushed, and the signs that they did their best to hide the thing...
That bothers me too, but I KNOW I'm anal about CD's and DVD's. I would love to be able to loan my sister some of our DVD's, but I know they will come back scratched with multiple fingerprints. I was nervous just letting my sis look at the Q+PR program..*LOL* She was nearly creasing every page with each turn. When I have kids, I'm gonna need to lock any valuable Queen items up in a vault..;-)
I'm very anal about my CD's and records, their sleeve/artwork, liner notes and I make sure my hands are clean and dry and VERY carefully touch things from the edge or lay the booklets/sleeves on a dry surface and read them and then return them to the case.
I go NUTS when I see fingerprints!
I also don't like other people touching my CD's/records because they are NOT careful and leave fingerprints all over everything so I have a NO TOUCH my stuff policy, which pisses my friends off but I don't care!
Wow! All this talk of anal, and here's me without my Astroglide!
My Queen CD's have been completely decimated by my rugrats - I'll have to replace the whole collection eventually. Just the other day I found small pieces of the CD booklet from The Works in the fireplace! The horror...the horror...

Why leave a CD in a place where someone can open it and tear it up (I'm sorry, I know you said The Works) and put it in a fire-place in the first place?!
Funny that you mention this John - the real BASTARD to try and keep clean is the vinyl double Greatest Hits II, with the glossy sleeve/embossed crest.
I just don't even take it out of the plastic sleeve anymore.
No you're not being picky - you're just an avid fan....
Hey, I'm showing my age, but I grew up on VINYL, which I treated like the treasure each record and record jacket/sleeve was., and even keep what ones I still own in clear plastic slipcovers that are for records.
S**T, I go over to my friends' homes and their record album jackets (TRUE STORY), forget fingerprints..they have PIZZA stains and BEER or COFFEE mug stains on their stuff! BLASPHEMY!!!!!
