A question about this song. I only recently bought the album S.H.A (i know, i know...i guess just one i didnt get round to buying), and I was wondering what ppl thought of the first section of this song, where they seem to have recorded Freddie's voice and then turned it down two or three keys. I can't hear what it adds to the song...and actually I thought that this section was the best part of the song; if you take it two or three keys up (so it sounds like Freddie's actual voice), it sounds surprisingly beautiful!
Another qu, tho not to do with that song -- in Brighton Rock (at the beginning), that IS Freddie singing unedited, right? He could really sing that high? Wow it sounds pretty impressive.
Ciao
I think they speeded up a bit tapes in Brighton Rock.
About ITLOTG- I much prefer live version of this, when Freddie sings with his clear voice- m,elody is beautiful. IMO a very underrated song, the chorus at the end, with Roger doing "screams"- great stuff...
And glad you finally got SHA- that's my fav record :) Many people talk about the second side of Queen II and the suite there- but did anybody notice that Tenement / Flick / Lily is also some kind of mini suite? Those three songs are one of the strongest points on any Queen record, Flick Of The Wrist is one of my fav songs of all time!
Aye, that's Freddie doing his falsetto routine in Brighton Rock. It sounds pretty high on it's own, but if you take that note that he starts on (B) and line it up with The Show Must Go On, he hits the same note all through the latter song, but not in falsetto. So yeah. B. Heh.
In The Lap of the Gods is one of my favorite Queen songs. The vocal effect is used nicely in this case because the song is supposed to be "unworldly" and I love it. My question from Sheer Heart Attack is who does the very low part in Bring Back That Leroy Brown?
@the_hero:
Since it is only a segment of the song (I'm guessing about 30 seconds?) I'll post that on rapidshare as an MP3. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with posting a small part of an official track? then other ppl who have not heard it sped-up will see what i meant.
If not, then I'll email it to you.
I'll try post it later this evening.
Ok, here is a link.
If I am not allowed to post such a link (though I don't see why not, since people use snippets of songs in remixes), tell me and I'll remove it. link
It is the original recording taken 3 keys up. 2 keys up also sounds good, but they're rather similar and I found 3 better.
I fiddled around with Brighton Rock, but the thing is, whether I take it up or down, down by a lot or down by a little bit, I cannot get a sound that does not sound artificial. it seems as though the recording at this pitch this was Freddie's natural voice.
Oh ya, the latter part of this edit sounds like it might be 'in the lap of the chipmunks'. Suffice to say that u'd need to do quite a bit of tweaking to get everything normalised.
