don't know about you guys, but i think this show is the most stupid, pathetic and dumb thing on TV at the moment... it is just a ridiculous and sad attempt to revive the band's long gone popularity and luckly it seems Brain thinks the same - from his late post on his blog. he says it in somewhat subtle way - but anyway i am gald that that's what he thinks cos if Queen would ever do such a thing i swear i will burn all their albums that i've been collecting for years and announce the end of our affair... thank god for their sanity. |

I read Brian's post today and thought WTF? Reason... I have always hated this show due to the morbid concept of it all. I like talent shows, but not trying to get a replacement for your DEAD lead singer. However....Brian REGULARLY CROWS about this show on his website, and supposedly even co-wrote one of the songs was it..that Mig sang last week? I don't think more than 2 days go by without Brian going off about how wonderful the show is, and Brian reviewing it la da la da, and it's very obvious Brian LOVES the exposure the show gives to Queen's music, via the contestant's covering Queen songs, and Mig from WWRY being a contestant. ....Then...all of a sudden today...Brian finds the show's concept morbid and doesn't like it. After WEEKS of NUMEROUS CROWING. I repeat....WTF!!!!!! |

When I first heard about it I thought it was so tacky, and I still do to some extent but that hasn't stopped me watching it. It's just entertainment...I was never really that into INXS anyway. |
dragonzflame 12.09.2005 19:57 |
Having just read the Soapbox entry... please excuse my ignorance but was Mig in WWRY? That's pretty cool...who was he then? |

I use to hate it but now I love it. I bet they're gonna send suzie home because she's a girl, I doubt they want a girl singer in their band. Am I right? |

I agree this is a stupid and pathetic way to find a new lead singer. Glad Queen did not do this. How dumb. And the show sucks. |

I didnt like it at first either but now I cant miss a show. I think its a great marketing idea for INXS. THey certainly have gotten alot of exposure and awareness. Weather it will last is another issue. The contestants are very talented and its a great opportunity for them weather they make the band or not.Its better than IDOL! |

If you have seen the show, or watch it on a regular basis....who do you want to win? Who do you think will win? |
tia 13.09.2005 13:15 |
I hope Mig wins. |

''In 2002, he (mig) moved to London and starred in ''We Will Rock You,'' a stage musical featuring the music of the famed British rock band Queen. |

I want Jordis to win but we're a couple of weeks behind everyone else...so maybe I shouldn't look at this thread anymore. My money's on Mig to win really. |
Sharron .G 14.09.2005 08:29 |
I think J.D. has a very good chance. His song "Pretty Vegas" just may win him the job. When he sings that song, the others sit over there like "oh shit"..... I am predicting a Mig & J.D. in the finals. Mig's voice is lacking something... I too was for Jordis in the beginning, but she lost it towards the end, from Aerosmith's "Dream on" till' when they kicked her off.... she just sat that, looking all emotional, tears in her eyes...etc If this was a show to replace the lead singer for Air Supply, then Mig would have it wrapped up.... But when J.D. performs lately, you absolutely can tell Mig is intimidated. And Marty & Suzie.... lame. Both their voices gave out on last night's (9-13-05) show. Suzie ruined a STP song, then tried 4 NON BLondes song "whats going on"....when she tried the high parts....her voice gave out. Marty sang his own bad song, then he did Radiohead's "Creep" ,,,,the high part at the end.... he couldn't handle. |

I agree JD has a great voice.Too bad he has a attitude,he can come across a little cocky.I did vote for Mig because he has been consistent with his performances. He never sang a song badly. He also has never been in the bottom three. |

I was rooting for Ty, personally. Nothing like having a bunch of aging white guys being led by a sprited young black guy. Given the current slate, I still say that Freddie could've beaten them all with one swift "ehhhhh-dop!" |

Okay, once again... it's just INXS!!! The band was DEAD. Dead, dead, dead! If they came back with say Jimmy Barnes do you think anybody would even notice or care? Sure it maybe tasteless, but it's probably the only way they can get any publicity whatsoever. MH ended their careers, so IMO they don't owe him anything. The mourning period is over. And say what you want about the performers, but at least Suzie actually SANG BoRap! I just finished listening to ROTC and using a video pre-recorded Freddie was a disgrace (and I'm not even anti-Q+PR tour). If you're going to perform the song then actually perform the song. Don't get me started on Roger and Radio GaGa! |

boy of destiny wrote: Okay, once again... it's just INXS!!! The band was DEAD. Dead, dead, dead!INXS are no more dead than Queen is. Actually INXS has all of its original members except 1.... so INXS is 83.3% intact. (6 original members with 1 missing) "Queen" is currently 50% intact.... so Queen is really dead then??? right? If they came back with say Jimmy Barnes do you think anybody would even notice or care?I've owned a music store for 8 years (over 200,000 artist in stock), I have a personal cd collection of over 8,000 cds, and I have no fucking clue who Jimmy Barnes is... so he must be awesome. MH ended their careersFreddie was 1,000 times the frontman that Michael was... so if he ended INXS... then Roger and Brian are dumbasses for even getting their instruments out... correct?? As that would mean Freddie's assumption is correct...he is/was Queen and all that, that implies. |
boy of destiny 14.09.2005 21:55 |
Sharron G... By "dead" I meant their careers. INXS had been on a steady decline if not free fall sales wise for years. Ask any high school or college-age kid and I bet they'd never heard of INXS before the show. BM even mentioned his daughter didn't know who they were. They're hardly on a level with a band like Queen, so to compare the two is like apples and oranges. Second, I totally support INXS and Queen in moving on with their lives. To say that a band is disrespecting the memory of their bandmate by continuing on is like saying you can never remarry. Third, Jimmy Barnes was the lead singer of an Australia band called Cold Chisel and did a song with INXS for the Lost Boys soundtrack called Good Times. It came out before Kick. I used him as example because of his past history with the band, but I could have said Terrance Trent D'Arby instead. There's only so many Paul Rodgers-types around. Of course owning a record store and an obvious music expert you probably already know that. |
boy of destiny 14.09.2005 21:57 |
... oh did I mention that I love the show as well? I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie Van Halen is sitting on the coach thinking about Rockstar:Van Halen as we speak. |
Suigi 14.09.2005 23:36 |
Eddie Van Halen is in a bit of a funk as is. And DLR's too busy being a paramedic. :P Still, Rockstar Van Halen would be pwnsome. Moreso than INXS. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 15.09.2005 00:13 |
To be honest I don't really care about INXS...but who knows, maybe they think this is a good way of getting their publicity back and their name back in the mainstream again, but with all the reality TV out right now, it seems like it'd be pretty hard for anyone to care once these shows fade away...anyway, I was rooting for Ty and Mig, partly out of Queen loyalty...:) |
