I did a stand-alone version of The Hero once before but didn't really add anything to it. This time I've added parts of another track.. I think it was Battle Theme? (I really don't know the FG album very well). Anyway, this other track was the exact same music, but had more bits to it. link

I hate how the part with the vocal sounds so much worse than the rest, but that's not my doing.. that's the way it is on the original album, and I used the 2001 remaster for this. I haven't altered the EQ in any way. Only thing I really messed with is the intro and I added reverb to the first crash before the vocal part comes in. And I shortened the ending from Battle Theme to get rid of as much movie dialogue as possible.
Adam, if you'd care to make this a joint venture perhaps you could attempt even-ing out the EQ to make the vocal part match a little better :) I can upload the wav.
Ignoring the differing EQ (which shouldn't be too difficult to fix), that sounds quite good! Freddie delivered a great vocal performance on that track and I always thought it was a shame they didn't do more with it, as it would have been a fantastic stand alone track, had they done a longer version of it.
Well done, Jeffrey, nice idea!
Pretty cool. I understand what you're talking about with the changeover. If the parts matched with a revised EQ it would be nigh on impossible to hear the edits. Excellent stuff.
I'm not sure I could take the time to do it. But if you want me to, I could try. The best way to do these things is to simply get a frequency graph up on the screen and compare between the original track and the one you're mixing into. Once you make changes in realtime, the graph will change and show you how close you're getting to it being a match frequencies-wise.
Of course, the easy-peasy way is to get steinberg freefilter and that will match the EQ of one track to another! I'll let you into a little secret. I did that with my cover of My Life Has Been Saved. I copied the EQ of the Queen track and put it over mine. Tee hee!!
Btw, on the vocal gripe you have. You could try using Adobe Audition to bring the level of the vocal up above the rest of the track. Is that what you were meaning? The level of the vocal.
Peace,
Adam.
I don't normally download these remixes, but I have found this one rather fetching, Jeffrey.
Always liked the original version of this song, just thought it need a little more.
