I didn't know Paul Rodgers before he started touring with our boys. For me it was a great chance to see Queen for the first time in my life, thanx to Paul.
After seeing a couple of shows I started to listen to some of Paul's songs - I already knew a few of his songs e.g. 'All Right Now' and 'Can't Get Enough' - and I could only say that I'm very surprised. He's made beautiful songs such as 'Wishing Well' and 'Fire & Water', but I realised I didn't know much about him. For example "Where he's from?", "Is he married?" etc. That's the reason I started this topic. I think I'm not the only one who doesn't know much about Paul. I think it would be cool to have if you could post your infos here. Thanx!
I usd to be a huge fan of Paul's singing long before the three of them got together. As a blues based singer myself- he was my hero... FIRE AND WATER I personally rate as one of top 5 best albums ever- the tracks like FIre And Water, Heavy Load, Oh I Wept and Mr. Big are just BRILLIANT!!! And tahn of course "Wishing Well" and with Bad Company- Seagull, Shooting Star, Bad Company, Running With The pack, Can't Get Enough... Awesome stuff...
Paul is English, born in Middlesborough, now lives in Canada. married, he's wife is former Miss Canada. Got kids- his son (well- his manager) even appeared on this board- he was playing a gig in London, musician as well... I think he has a daughter as well...
His album "Muddy Waters Blues" was nominated for Grammy and among others featured Brian May, David Gilmour or Jeff Beck.
In 1996 at 25th Woodstock Anniversary he performed with Jason Bonham, bassist Andy Fraser (FREE), guitarists Slash and Neil Schon (whoever the second one is...)
Sold over 125 million records (not bad, ay?)
And well- the guy wrote and sang "All Right now" when he was 21... Fuckin' amazing- more amazingly he sang entire Fire And Water at that age- many vocalists do something as mature when they're about 30-40...
Ehm... There's more I'm sure... :)
Hi,
on link, you can legally download a short set from Paul Rodgers, even in wav format!
This is a nice opportunity to listen to some other stuff from him. Also the more familiar songs 'Feel like makin'love', 'Can't get enough of your love', 'Seagull' and of course 'All right now' are present.
Cheers,
Tim

Hey Tom!
I think you were asking about Neal Schon in your post. Neal is probably best known as "the guitarist from Journey." He became a professional musician at age 15 when he joined Santana in the early 70s . . . often referred to as "The Child Prodigy" in those days.
Toured the US and UK/Europe in Spring 05 as the guitarist with SoulSirkUS, including Jeff Scott Soto (vocals,) Marco Mendoza (bass,) Virgil Donati (drums) link Check 'em out!
Is currently on tour with Journey. I'll see them next week at Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts.
Cheers!
Cindy
Ok nice to see your answers! I've got some more questions: Why did Free and Bad Company break up? And is Miss Canada his first wife? What's the best album to buy first? Thanx again :-D
Free I guess... Well- many say that Fire and Water (it was their second album) was the begining of an end... The very young band (Paul was 21 and wasn't the youngest) just ahd a HUGE hit with "All Right now", was touring frequently and started have some problems within the group. Unfortunately there was no such thing as good managment- the band was being forced another albums and of course- to havce another hit like All Right Now... Well- just listen to Fire And Water album- it's an odd song on it!!! They didn't manage the pressure and there was no another hit. The band broke up briefly just to get back together soon afterwards for two more albums. The atmosphere within the band was getting worse and worse and Paul Kossoff's drug problem was a major factor- the band broke up after two more albums for good... In 1976 Paul was found dead on the plane (overdose)
Kirke (Free's drummer) and Rodgers joined Mick Ralpjhs (ex-Mott the Hoople) and bass palyer Burelll and started Bad Company. The band broke up sometime in 1982, but later was in fact reformed by Kirke and Ralphs- with different frontmen and bass players- don't know this stuff at all... Don't know exactly the reasons why they broke up in the first palce either...
Cindy- thanks about the info on Journey man. Will check him out. :)
RECOMMENDED ALBUMS:
10 from 6- it's pretty much Bad Company's Greatest Hits packaga, all tehir famous tunes. There's some brilliant stuff missing, but... alternatively- I'd go for their self-titled debut
Fire and Water- as I said, IMO one of the top 5 best albums EVER (among Wish You Were Here, SHA, Scenes From A Memory and Machine Head); bluesy and incredibly mature, awesome, very subtle music. The bass line in "Mr big" is a killer, the vocals on "Heavy load"- sheer bloody petry...

What about the Free compilation album 'Chronicles'? I believe it's some kind of greatest hits album.
Great to see a great response concerning Paul
Would love to see QPR play Radioactive from the Firm days. The song is actually written by Chris Squire from the XYZ band attempt. Brian would do a great job.
See Ya at the Bowl!

Yep- that's a good one- it's very good because it contains almost entire Fire & Water ("Remeber" is missing- and that's the worst track on it- doesn't mean it's bad though...) so you don't lose anything :)
