in 1992 queen threw a special concert for freddie and it was a good concert i must add..and i was wondering if you overall enjoyed it and what was ur favourite act....mine was when that damn slash played tie your mother down and george micheal sang some body to love.
George was obviously the best part of the show. I really liked Seal doing Who Wants to Live Forever. My personal favorite moment was the union of my two favorite bands at that time which was when Def Leppard and Brian May did Now I'm Here.
The worst parts were Liza Minelli doing We Are the Champions and Paul Young(think that's his name) ruining Radio Ga Ga.
fav parts
slash with bri on tymd (two of my three fav guitarists on the same set)
james hetfield doing SCC (although he did look kinda lost without a guitar)
george micheal doin SBTL
seal doin WWTLF
worst.
robert plant doin the innuendo thing
liza doin watc. (should have been paul rodgers)
pauk young doin radio gaga
Best: Daltrey on IWIA; Plant on Innuendo and adding in a few bars of Kashmir; Michael's version of '39 & STL
Worst: Def Leppard; Spinal Tap (not even remotely funny); Liz taylor; Bob Geldoff
best, absolutly: the performence from george michael, zucchero and gary cherone.
worst: axl rose singing we will rock you and robert plant doin innuendo.
mostly it was fairly rubbish
best bits were brian doing too much love and under pressure.
worst paul young destroying radio ga ga
why wasn't paul rogers on it?
Guess at the time of the tribute concert neither Brian or Roger were aware of the fact that Paul Rodgers was one of Freddie´s alltime favourites! :-)))
I think Freddie stated his admiration for Paul in his testament... which was due to be opened later in that year... ;-)
The best parts of the concert have to be......
Roger Daltry IWIA
James Hitfield SSC
I also thought that 'All the young dudes' was fanstastic.
George Micheal was brilliant.
But i thought that Elton John stole the show with TSMGO (Brian May's solo in this song made the hairs stand on my neck)
The twat that sung Radio GAGA....was a twat lol
George Michael doing STL was absolutely, brilliant and was perhaps the highlight of even his career. He stole the Tribute concert hands down and the emotion, depth, urgency, and resolve that he added to his interprtation, truly honored both Freddie, the meaning of the song as intended by Freddie when he wrote it and my 2nd favorite song by Freddie.
Both George and Lisa Stansfield doing TATDOOL still is my 2nd favorite. Was elegiac, heart wrenching, and stunning.
I baught the ''Five Live'' CD that had both cuts when it came out in 1992 (and all the money when to the Terrance Higgins AIDS Trust and Mercury Pheonix Trust.
I also have STL on George's double Greatest Hits CD.
i think Somebody to Love was great, George did a very good job, also TYMD, I Want It All were superb. Plant(great vocal, no doubt) destroyed Innuendo, here you can clearly see how is difficult and complex to perform this song.
