Today I am 25 years old , and it was 25 years ago that Ac/Dc also had thier own rebirth of sorts.I speak of Ac/Dc because I bought a Dual Disc version of their Back in Black album. Ac/Dc in my opinion is a band that has fallen off of the face of the earth lately. They are also a band that I think has been overlooked as far as great rock bands are concerned. This band did something that the band that we all love which is Queen could not. Bon Scott passed away back in Febuary of 1980 basically from drinking too much and choking on his own vomit. Months after this Malcom and Angus Young found a new vocalist for this group and ironically Brian Johnson was a big enough man to fill Bons shoes. There is another twist to this story as well ... this is also my opinion .. but Brian Johnson fit Ac/Dc so well that he sounds very similar to Bon Scott as well, THIS is the something that Queen couldnt find. Sure they found Paul Rogers , but what if they could have found someone like Ac/Dc did .. someone who didnt nessisarly look the part .. but sounded the part. I think this band Ac/Dc should get some well deserved respect for all that they overcame. I hath spoken critisize me if you will but this is something i just couldnt hold in any longer. Thank you and good night.
AC/DC are fuckin awesome.... Bon & Brian are both awesome.
Keep in mind, Angus was 23 when Bon Scott died.
Brian May was 44 when Freddie died.
That does make a difference.
You could look under every rock, or up a cow's ass... you won't find a replacemnt for Freddie that makes us "forget about Freddie."
Brian Johnson didn't "fill Bon's shoes".... he stepped in because Bon was no longer here.
Sharon , that wasnt what i meant by filling bons shoes exactly. I think he is Bons equal , maybe not by looks , but by sheer vocals alone .. maybe not 100% but pretty damn close. I wasnt critisizing Queen in any way by saying that. Nor do I dis agree with the fact that Freddie is irreplaceble because he is irreplaceable. There isnt anyone on this earth that could replace Freddie, just like Brian Johnson cant perfectly lay vocals on any of the songs Ac/Dc did with Bon Scott. I wasnt saying that at all. I like Paul Rogers, but Brian Johnson , let alone Freddie Mercury he isnt.
I love AC/DC and there's definitely not enough about them on these boards...but as for Queen, I think the fact that their career had gone for so long with Freddie, that it wouldn't have been right to replace him, because there was no way to replace someone like Freddie. Not saying that Bon is replaceable or anything, but because the impact they'd made was less and they hadn't had as many albums, so it wasn't as shocking to fill his shoes with Brian...So that's why I think that the tour right now is the right way to go about it because Brian and Roger aren't trying to make Paul into Freddie, but just trying something new...
There's absolutely nothing in common with AC/DC as far as Q+PR goes.
Q+PR is two members of a legendary rock group forming a short term alliance with a legendary rock vocalist. Nothing more, nothing less.

Another thing that people with their comparisons between Queen and AC/DC (or Genesis, Pink Floyd, the Stones...) seem to forget is that AC/DC had no more than a "cult" following, and they were still a relatively new band.
I'm sure there would be a lot less opposition to Bri & Rog keeping the band going if it had a history of personnel changes. (Un)fortunately Queen is known as one of those rare bands that had the same line-up from the beginning to the end... Or at least was until last year. :P
i love AC/DC and apparently they're writing a new (double?) album and may be touring next year!!! im so excited! i think they're awesome, however it pisses me off when i think that Angus Young was 15 and he was in a legendary rock band. you know what i was doing at 15? NOTHING!!! cause i have no life...

That may well be because (if the rumours are true) that Bon Scotts vocals were actually used to back up Brian's vocals on Back In Black. That said Brian is a great vocalists in his own right.
