yes, but that was a joke, John Lennon saw that on the front of a gun magazine somewhere and thought it was absurd, so he wrote a song with that as its title. He didn't really believe that happiness was a warm gun.

Also, i'm sure john lennon would have more reason than most, not to be in favour of liberal gun laws.

point 2 With regards to war, john lennon said in one of his final interviews in 1980 something along the lines of, 'if there was another war, it be out there telling people not to fight!'

i dpoubt john lennon would have suddenly taken up a right wing opinion to be honest. he was fairly consistent in his anti war opinions throughout the late 60s and 70s.
