Queen II is second only to A Night at the Opera - and it's a damn close second.
It's good because it has no songs I violently despise, unlike ANATO (Sweet Lady...gaaah).
Oh yes, it's awesome and sensational indeed...I somtimes feel like thinking it to be their best album, though both QUEEN II and ANATO are my favorites anyway. Even if i think ANATO to be my best fav. and QUEEN II to be the second, it's sooooo close to the best.
I think it got's really style. From the level of Led Zeppelin 4 and Dark Side Of The Moon. I always listen it after Queen I cause i somehow think these 2 LP's are a concept LP. But I'm still searchign for a story they'r telling. It's very hard, I started thinking it is about a young person wanting to become a rock star. But this persone is stroke by drugs and his parents don't want him anymore. While using the drugs he halucinates in a magical world where everything is possible.
Am I really that nuts?

lol, thinking like that is why everyone can't become a rock star, thank god I guess.
Queen II is good , but absolutely not my favourite. Strange songs in a way, too many voices and vocal expressions in the songs. I love procession, FTS, WQ, SDOD, OB and SSOR. I like TFFMS and MOTBQ but it's too extensive. I dislike FHLI
Funny How Love Is could be my 2nd favorite song on the album (White Queen is just too incredible) If you really listen to it, you'll notice it sounds like a build-up to the climactic Seven seas of Rhye, especially the line "Funny.....funny.....funny....." The song doesn't really work when played alone, but when the entire album is played through in its entirety, FHLI stands out as one of the better songs IMO.

That's right. I especially love the big intro with Roger singing the top note: "AAAAAHHHH!" So great. A very good song, which Queen wanted to do live, but it didn't work. I've read that in a interview with John Deacon in 1974.
In my point of view which of course I know is quite subjective and personal...Queen II is just a musical jewel so rich, so intense, so energetic, yet sublime. It has been my favourite record for such a long time.I have listened to other different stuff , interesting as well, but its magic exceeds everything else ..It's a musical and kaleidoscopic trip...well, I guess words can not really explain what it means to me...Simply unique...
side black is without doubt one of the finest halves to any lp ANYWHERE in the history of recorded music
and FHLI - i don't know why one person didn't like it
it's got the whole surf sound thing going on - almost like queen decided after doing I CAN HEAR MUSIC they had to rewrite it too!!!........it's a fantastic tribute to the beach boys - and it compliments the rest of the album perfectly
Freddie's writing was at it's most creative on this album
My favorite album out of their entire catalog. VERY ambitious for such a young group at the time.
