Finally...After making gobs of money in the film industry, but Lucas himself expressing that he doesn't get the "critical" accolades of his peers like Spielberg & Coppola,
June 9th The American Film Institute (which I think very highly of), awarded him with it's Lifetime Achievement Award.
You can watch the ceremony (taped) Sunday June 19, 2005 on the Uunited States TV cable Network, The USA Channell at 9:00pm EST.
Yeah!!!!!!
Great Interview with him about his early days in film school in the arts & entertainment section of The Baltimore Sun Sunday Newspaper(which the hard copy came out Saturday..today)..
..but you may be able to read it when it is archived on the Sun's website on Sunday at I think, link
I just watched it on USA. Awesome triubute, although it would have been better if they included videos of Hayden, Natalie, and Ewan saluting George Lucas.
It was really funny when Lucas called himself 'The King Of Wooden Dialogue'.
...and Yoda! C'mon you had Chewbacca, 3PO, and R2 but no Yoda??!!
Now that we're on the subject of 'Star Wars'...
This website has some highlights of the 'Star Wars Holiday Special' broadcasted in 1978. George Lucas said that he attempted (and failed) to buy every single copy of this special to destroy it before one copy would eventually make more. link
