Hello everybody.
I own a Burns Brian May (without Burns logo), and I'm totally happy with it (what a GREAT sounding guitar, unique in style and quality for such a small price). I have it since march, and I'm trying lots of different action/truss rod setups. Since I'm happy with most of them, but I can't succeed in finding the ideal setting to me, I'd like to know what are the settings of Burns Brian May guitar you guys are using.
Specifically, I'm talking about:
1) the fretboard curve (pushing together frets 1 and 12 on low E) mine is 0,5mm at the 7th fret
2)the action, mine is about 2,5mm at the 12th fret on low E.
since I'm still experimenting new configurations, I'm really interested in what are the setups you found to be the best for you, since I almost always get a lot of buzzing (expecially when I'm playing one-vision-style power chords)...
anyway I read somewhere that even the real RS buzzes a little...but, you know, noone's perfect!
Hope in your replys...Thank you!
cheers,
Totonno
Oh, and on the basis that little Johnny Knoxville will have read your post and dropped to his knees sobbing at the new found complexity of his guitar, thanks very much!
Thanks for taking time to reply to me. The thing is that I do know how to set up the guitar, but action and truss rod relief are things which can change from one type of guitar to another, and from user to user.
So I just wanted to know what action and fretboard curve owners of this special kind of guitar use.
My wish is to experiment every configuration, from the lowest action (perfect for solos) to the highest action (which seems better for chords), to find the perfect compromise for MY OWN playing style.
I'm happy little Jaw-knee Knoxville will discover new complexity in his guitar cause of me!!! lol
cheers everybody,
Totonno
Sorry man... I used to have a Burns Brian May guitar. It was my baby... and I literally saved my pennies for a year to get it. I had it for two months... and it was stolen. My life still hasn't been the same. The serial number is 1441. If anybody has ever come across it... please let me know. Maybe then, my nightmare will end.

When I had mine... It buzzed a lot! I took it to a local dealer and he told me it had a bad neck. I got home and instantly emailed the Burns company complaining about this and they sent me a nice email in return stating that there is nothing wrong with the guitar. Forgive me for not remembering the exact details... but basically, the neck is unlike any other guitar on the market. There was a certain way the truss rodd needed to be turned, and then... and only then would the neck be in proper position and the buzzing having ceased. I printed out the email, and took it with the guitar back to my local guitar dealer. He looked at both, did what the email said... and went into shock because it worked. The burns dude was exactly right... and the dealer was very impressed with the guitar afterword. He wanted some more information about burns guitars and looked into it...
Man... talking about this makes me sad. I miss my guitar. :O (
Hey TheClassic too bad your guitar has been stolen! Really sorry bout that. Mine has SN 5390 and I bought it from queenonline, so It's pretty sure It has nothing to deal with that.
Anyway, take a look around Ebay maybe someone's trying to sell It!!! It's pretty impossible that you find it...but, noone knows...
Thanks for the story about your adventures with Rs truss rod!!
cheers,
Totonno
