This is by far the best news show on TV right now, and possibly the best show on TV overall.
I love Jon Stewart's sarcastic and completely ironic political humor, which at times like this when the whole political scene in the U.S. and the world is a complete mess brings an absolutely hilarious side by ridiculing politicians, news reporters, celebrities, and pretty much the whole society in general. Jon Stewart has an awesome cast of reporters like Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry, Ed Helms, and Lewis Black.
The whole show is genius, but I think that part of their success must be credited to those people lampooned on the show for being so stupid, because without their silly antics 'The Daily Show' would definitely be a boring one.
LOL, yeah!
I was laughing my ass off when they showed that clip from FOX News after the Michael Jackson veredict, and they had this idiot reporter yelling out: "YOU'RE A FREAK, MOST PEOPLE THINK YOU'RE A FREAK!".
...and then Jon Stewart says: "As usual, FOX News speaking for the whole country".
Huge fan here. Probably the only reason I would pay for cable television right now. Jon Stewart is a demigod, and the others are hilarious as well. I particularly thought the interview with Will Ferrell was great, but there hasn't really been a bad episode since I started watching. Even when he had laryngitis he was still amazing.
I've completely given up watching any other late night programming (mostly Conan) as it all just pales in comparison.
Conan O'Brien is hilarious as well, the problem with 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' is that you can tell sometimes that they've just run out of ideas for the day, and they just come up with silliest and most totally unfunny skits. Some people find them so ridiculous that they're actually funny, but personally they're just pathetic.
Yet there are skits from Conan that hardly ever fail to be funny...
'Kids Drawings'
'What In The World?'
'State Quarters'
'If They Mated'
'Stamps Collection'
and the most hilarious of all...
'Walker Texas Ranger leveler'
'Triumph The Insult Comic Dog'.
I feel that Conan has lost his edge, but I agree that the Walker Texas Ranger level is amazing. The one with Haley Joe Osmont was hilarious. I'm glad I caught that.
Triumph is also great, and so is the Masturbating Bear, but I think Conan relies too much on gimmickry to pander to the timeslot and his demographic audience. Whereas the Daily Show is just brilliant and relies on current events but doesn't take itself too seriously. I can't imagine what it would be like if Kilborn was still on it.
Jon Stewart's lambast of the idiots on Crossfire was just... I dunno. I was speechless for days.
Oh God, I remember seeing that clip of Jon Stewart on 'Crossfire' and I have to say it's probably one of the funniest and most memorable TV moments ever. Jon Stewart pretty much wiped his ass with Tucker Carlson, and humiliated him in front of his own audience.
I was laughing my ass off when Jon Stewart asked Carlson how old he was, and Carlson replied: "I'm 34", and Jon Stewart said: "You're 34 and you still wear a bowtie?"

I laugh my ass off every time he does that..:-) I can't wait till Conan takes over the Tonight Show. I just hope he doesn't have to tone down the wackiness of his show. I can't imagine most of the Tonight's Show's core audience laughing at the masterbating bear, for example..*LOL*

Regarding his comment on Fox News, he doesn't exactly speak for the whole world either. I'll watch his show on occasion it's always good to do a little enemy research and the point being if he were such a good little liberal and good reportter why isn't he tougher on his conservative guests like Newt Gingrich, and Colin Powell all be it I don't think he's really conservative. Hell most wouldn't even call me conservative more moderate than anything. That's just my two cents though.
Why doesn't it surprise me that this comment comes from someone who admires a racist right wing extremist like Rush Limbaugh. FOX News is without a doubt the most biased news channel. Although I have to admit most news networks are, FOX News just takes things further than any other network.
Most moderate conservatives I know actually find Jon Stewart very funny. What I like about Jon Stewart is that he makes fun of both political sides, but since we have the Bush administration in charge then they're the target of most of the jokes. What many ultra conservatives seem to forget is that back when Clinton was president he was the target of all the jokes, and I don't think any comedian ever tried to spare a good joke making fun Clinton just because they lean liberal.
I don't watch television anymore, but The Daily Show was the last thing that I was watching. I loved that show. I ought to watch it again, but I'm too tired of the rest of the drivvel on there. Probably says something like that in my profile. Hmm, I ought to check in on that.
... and Kudos to Pieter for stating that it is, indeed, a comedy show. :)

LOL Just like Jon Stewart said to Tucker Carlson...
"Why do you take me so seriously? You work for CNN while I work for the same network that has a show about puppets making prank calls".
