Sunday night on Rockville, Maryland...Washington DC Maryland..USA radio station on 94.7 ARROW classic rock radio.. ...on an all live music weekend for Memorial Day holiday... ...I was driving about 9:40pm and I heard...Queen's cover of Ricky Nelson's "Hello Mary Lou, Goodbye Heart" from "Live At Wembley" and my mouth dropped open. That station seems to know 4 tunes only by Queen...BoRhap, WWRY, WATC, Fat Bottomed Girls and that's it. all the time so much I'm sick of it. I was floored and cranked the radio. My friends in the car said..."who is that?' Told them it's Queen covering Ricky Nelson's tune from Live At Wembley. I was so pleasantly pleased to hear this, and you all know as I have said before that that is also one of my favorite tunes from Live At Wembley, and it also is my favorite Queen cover of another artist's song. Really nice and wonderfully refreshing...and I hope this is a new trend of better things to come from USA radio here. |

Completly agree. Constantly hearing songs puts you off. Now when I listen to NOTW album I skip Tracks 1 and 2. Not because they're not good but I just get sick of them after a while (plus there are so many awful covers of them too!) Much better to hear TYMD or some nice early stuff like KYA |

I got our local radio station to play songs off Queen 2 once... The DJ was a good friend of mine so I gave him my CD and asked him to play March of the Black Queen and Ogre Battle.. and he was only too happy to... of course word got back to the management and he was suspended for 2 days for that, but Bob said it was worth it to play REAL songs.. LOL |

In the mid of 90s in one of night TV news of national Russian TV Channel host of the show read Russian translation of 'Dear Friends' as his 'goodbye for TV watchers': "...And in the end of the programme, I'd like to say you that Freddie Mercury sung long time ago: Go to sleep and dream again Soon your hopes will rise And then from all this gloom Life can start anew And there'll be no crying soon. Good night, Ladies and Gentlemen!" I was shocked... |

They (94.7) were playing live stuff all Memorial Day weekend beginning Friday am, and concluding at midight last night, including David Bowie and Annie Lennox performing "Under Pressure" at the Freddie concert, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love from Live Aid, hits yes, but not always the ones you hear on the air. DJ's Cerphe, Weasel, (grizzled veteran Washington DC radio legends--term of respect and endearment) and the very cool Schelby brought in a lot of stuff from their personal collections which included some rare treats. Would hate to be the one to complete the station log for all of THAT! They played a lot of cool live Queen stuff even a fast and slow WWRY, and somebody may have slipped in one of the legal downloads from the 2005 tour. I ain't talkin'. Stevens and Medley, the am DJs have played the Wembley "Hello Mary Lou" before, during a regular show and started talking over the "first" ending. It was great to hear Rog come slammin' in on the drums, then Brian screamin' in guitar, and either Stevens or Medley saying "D'OH!" in a Homer Simpson-like moment before beating a hasty verbal retreat while the boys continued to rock. DJ Schelby (9 am to 2 pm, 94.7 FM) has been very supportive of Queen on the air, playing all kinds of their stuff, and in January, kicked off one of her daily, starting at noon, "Eclectic Lunch" programs--The "Unexpected" Live Version, with Brian's Buckingham Palace Rooftop Version of "God Save the Queen" from the Party at the Palace CD that some brilliant, sainted soul sent her. (See Brian's web site around January 8 of this year--"Washington, DC Salutes HRH Queen Elizabeth II, and Queen's Brian May") "Live, unexpected, and magnificent." Indeed it was. Check 'em out: link |

All I've heard of Queen on the radio in England is: One Vision Under Pressure I Want To Break Free Don't Stop Me Now Somebody To Love (GM Version) Bohemain Rhapsody They don't get much airplay on the radio here yet they play some really crappy new songs three times a day! |

WLUP 97.9 FM in Chicago played Keep yourself Alive this past weekend. After the song was over the DJ quipped: That was keep yourself alive - easier said than done by Freddie |

Also, I always wonder why in Italian discoes the only songs by Queen they seem able to play are WWRY and Another One bites the dust!! + Freddie's Living on my own remix. It makes me mad!! There are so many Queen and Freddie songs that would get everybody dancing like crazy! Fairy |

Terry Wogan very often plays Love of My Life and '39 on Radio 2. Have also heard TYMD played by Jeremy Vine on R2 and heard Janice Long play almost everything from Hammersmith '79 on, you guessed it, good old Radio 2. |

Check 'em out: linkI listen to 94.7 all the time though I can ONLY get it (the reception) in my car for some reason. I go to Rockville all the time...to go to Tower Records mostly and to go to White Flint Mall. 94.7 Radio station is in a teeny office strip building center on Hubbard Drive across the street from the Giant and Barnes & Noble. I can always see their van with the guitar logo painted on it on their parking lot. (Hey remember when Weasel was on WHFS back in the late 80's/early 90's when the station was STILL cool and privately owned by the Einstein family?) I have been in their studio and office a few times. I knew about the all live weekend if you see my first post. They played the song as I was just heading back down Randolph Road to grab a bite at the 7-11 after seeing the new Star Wars movie at the Lowes Theater in White Flint Mall...so it was a GREAT evening and cap to the Memorial Day Weeekend! Guess with Queen, the force was with me! Lol!!!! |

I've heard Thank God It's Christmas and the entire News Of The World and A Night At The Opera albums! Beat that. :) But radio can get repetitive, so I've just started taking my Ipod everywhere. Just put it on Shuffle and it's basically radio without the commercials! |

My radio station just started to play Queen more than just when someone requests it. I've heard BoRhap, WWRY/Champions (they play those two back to back), Somebody to Love, You're My Best Friend (that's a first), Killer Queen, and Under Pressure. Those are all the ones that I can remember. I'm surprised I haven't heard Fat Bottomed Girls or Bicycle Race. |

WDFN, the local (as in Detroit) sports talk AM station, will frequently play various Queen songs when coming back from commercials.....I once heard "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" used for that and I just about freaked out...:) |
