For all you guys and girls that have seen a show, whats your opinion of how much Paul Rodgers is enjoying touring with Queen?
Expand further and explain...
How can he be happy playing second fiddle to Brian and Roger? Hypotetical question of course, but I wonder if he will lose interest before committing to coming to America.
Yeah I think Paul is digging it.
He's been given the opportunity to take a bunch of great songs and he's been asked to interpret them the way he feels. And he's getting waves of appreciative energy coming back at him for doing so.
How could you not enjoy that?
I bet you some of these songs have taken hold of him
and he loves to perform them. I wouldn't be surprised if he added a Queen tune to his set during his next solo tour.
At the same time though, I don't think Paul will
join Queen on a long term basis(BPP sighs relief)
He's just too much of his own guy and he himself said he was looking to go into semi-retirement before the events with Brian(which led to Q+PR) took place.
So that makes these tours all that more special IMO.
Paul is one those artists that are going to be much more revered after they're gone and people look back and listen to their contributions and go WOW!
Sort of like his hero, Otis Redding.
I think Paul is enjoying every single moment. I listened to Free and Bad Company and I love the songs, especially Paul's voice. But I found the bands behind him pretty shitty. This is his opportunity to play with an outstanding band for a huge crowd. And the Queen fans react positive…
Sharon G, please, don't waiste your precious time in here anymore. Really. We know what you're gonna say, I'll write it down for you myself: yeah, Queen is not Queen without Freddie and John, Queen is not Queen without Freddie and John, Queen is not Queen... {100 times} ... without Freddie and John. Now, Sharon, please go get a life and give us a break!!!
I think they are all enjoying themselves!! This is a second chance that most rock stars don't ever get. Queen went "out" on a high (but sad) note and now Brian and Roger get a chance to continue that high with Paul and the other members of the band. We all know this is not something they have to do, it's something they want to do.
We've all wondered what Queen would be doing if Freddie hadn't died. I don't know what they'd be doing but I hope it would be something similiar to what the Stones are and have been doing. I watched an interview that Matt Lauer did from the Today Show with Cliff and Mick. Cliff said something like either he or Mick get the touring gits and they know it's time to get back on the road. They take their breaks and do what they like and when they are ready, they get back to it. As long as they are enjoying it and people want to see them play, they play. Granted, the Stones have an advantage that Queen doesn't but it's all in the spirit of Queen. There is no harm being done and millions of people around the world are enjoying the product!! If you aren't enjoying it, stay home.
I actually think he is thrilled!he does not play halls near this size much less the outdoor shows coming. Also i like to hear what sharon says as i agree this is not Queen. But it still rocks
I have nothing against Paul R . My problem is anyone other than Freddie singing Queen songs using the Queen name. Gets my nose out of joint.
Sorry, it's the way I feel. Also another bass player other than John under the Queen name bothers me.
For younger Queen fans who did not see Queen with the orginal 4, this tour is great. But some of us who saw Queen w/Freddie and John, it just does not seem right to call this 2005 group Queen.

I love you and miss you!

If you have nothing against him, then why are you on a thread about him saying who cares?
I would like to give you credit Sharon G for not being a troll, but that was very BPPish of you.
Remember that Bri and Rog invited him. Paul didn't burst into a room brandishing a gun demanding that they take him on the road with them.
So if you have a problem with all of this you should direct your criticisms towards two of Freddie's best friends.
I think Paul was very happy to being this tour- think his mood varied by city depending on the response he received from the audience. I noticed this when I was at the UK shows- I did my best to shout out, dance, react to him and he responds back. I was a little disappointed in the sheffield crowd..paul looked a little disappointed a few time he walked back to the mainstage on the catwalk--it just made me yell louder for him. If anyone was in Cardiff- I was the screamer/woo'er in the West Balcony ;-)
I got to meet him briefly in Belfast as well- I thanked him for doing this- he was very appreicative and happy
haha, thanks for all the responses, and of course the bickering(this is queenzone after all)... I was just curious because I live in the U.S. and the rest goes without saying
Thanks!!
