everybody knows this titel from freddie and michael jackson. i think it was recorded in the eary eighties. but on live aid, tina turner and mick jagger performed this song together...
who wrote this song??
according to Peter Freestone's book about Freddie, it was Freddie & Michael Jackson. They worked on 3 songs at MJ's recording studio, "State Of Shock", "Victory" & "There Must Be More To Life Than This" - the latter Freddie re-recorded for the on the Mr Bad Guy album.
state of shock was NOT unreleased..
it was released on "Victory", The Jacksons album in 1984, on CBS records/Epic.
according to linear notes it was written by Randy Hansen/Michael Jackson.
There was a thread about this a while back.
If you look at the "official" legal copyright credits as to WHO wrote it, it does NOT list Freddie....it lists Randy Hansen/Michael Jackson.
But a person has to apply for the Publishing rights and copyrights in writing.
I heard Freddie never got around to that, so even though Freddie is NOT listed as a writer, he DID co-write "State Of Shock" with Michael.
Just shows you how important it is to do the official paperwork for Publishing Rights/Copyrights. Also means Freddie's estate won't get any royalties from the song either which sucks.

Jackson is a fucking disgrace. The only good bit in Jackson's 'Beat It' is the Eddie Van Halen guitar solo and Jackson didn't pay him a single penny for it. Not from the royaltys or anything. And now he denies Freddie from something he wrote at least part of. What a twat.
well Eddie Van Halen was probably too pissed to realise.(only kidding Eddie!!)
from what I heard, EVH offered his services for free. He didnt tell any of Van Halen about it though, David Lee Roth first heard it while on his travels and thought someone had been ripping off Eddie's style!
I wonder who that Randy guy is?
(admittely not good to say when on a topic relating to Freddie Mercury)
