My thought is that One Vision wasn't written for Highlander, it's in Iron Eagle. And my other thought is that Roger wanted to write song about what you've mentioned, but Freddie changed the lyrics - it doesn't mean that something based on Roger's idea was recorded.
One Vision was both in the film and on the film soundtrack for "Iron Eagle", starring Jason Gedrick & Louis Gossett, Jr. sort of a clone film of "Top Gun". Pretty good too.
You may be confusing some of Queen's other songs that are on the AKOM album, that were written for "Highlander", with "One Vision" because it is alos on the AKOM album.
BluEydFlu_Z: "...One Vision was originally written about Martin Luther King, but Freddie changed the words to fit in with Highlander. I personally would like to hear the original version..."
There is NO original version. The track evolved in the studio. If you wish to witness that evolution for yourself, you best bet would be to purchase the "Magic Years" VHS documentary.
Other than that, you could always try the DVD bonus tracks.

John..it wasn't in or for "Highlander". It was IN the film and ON the soundtrack for "Iron Eagle".
Sorry John...didn't notice you were quoting the poster.
I'd be interested to see if there is a demo, scratch track, especially with the original words, "One Vision" rather than "Fried Chicken" at the end.
Please read this thread for additonal info. link
Roger also never said it was written about Martin Luther King, he said he'd heard someone had said that Roger had written it about him (and the eye-rolling look Roger gives suggests that it obviously wasn't about MLK).

Sorry Arlene, but I couldn't resist - how can Iron Eagle be a 'clone' of Top Gun, when it was made two years previously?
