I need some recomendations for some solo album's.
For my birthday my boyfriend is getting me The Great Pretender but I would love to get some other one's too.I would LOVE to check Brian's or Roger's.Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
Brian's Back To The Light and Another World are both big favorites of mine! I dont know a whole lot about Roger's stuff though......I used to have Fun In Space and I rather liked it, but thats about it...
Yes back to the light, another world furia by brian may.
Fun in space strange frontier happiness.electric fire roger taylor.
The cross (roger's group during absent queen albums) shove it mad,bad and dangerous to know+ blue rock.
John deacon Guess who's back + staring at 4 walls.
Well the only one I haven't seen listed so far is "Mr. Bad Guy"! Well let us hope that this person's partner can afford the whole lot of them because it seems to me no one has expressed any preference to one over others! Is that because you all really think they are equally brilliant or are you just showing off a talent for listing albums? Just to try and help the person who wanted it I would (humbly) suggest that Brian's "Back To The Light" and The Cross' "Mad Bad And Dangerous To Know" are as good as any place to start with the solo efforts.
"Mad, "Bad and Dangerous To Know is listed at a price of roughly $75. Not a good start."
Well if the boyfriend buys it then it just shows that the young lady has found a guy who shows promise! :-)
I recommend buying some solo albums.
And if you can't find MBADTK on ebay for $30 you should be shot.

I Would Recomend...
FREDDIE: Mr Bad Guy, Barcelona, The Great Pretender
BRIAN: Back To The Light, Another World
ROGER: Happiness (my fav of all the bands solo albums, best song on this album is foreign sand)
I want to get "Back To The Light" and it's out of print..here in the USA. I did find "Another World" but it was a Japanese import for $50..about 2 days ago..too rich for my blood.
I still have never seen either the 3 CD or the 10 CD/3 DVD FM solo collection. Boy you said the 3 CD is only about $25 not bad at all., just wish I could find it. Damn! I go to Tower Records and our independent record store Record & Tape Traders and they carry and can find anything...but not this. That's where I saw the Japanese import of "Another World".
Allow me to ask one question?
How in the hell do people come off as Queen experts, supposedly having followed the band for decades, and yet they do not own, nor have they listened to..... a Freddie or Brian solo LP? Or the WWRY concert vid? Or.....
Am I simply asking questions that every one else has either already figured out, and are quiet in not saying anything, or just not paying attention?
I love some of the info some people here provide, but, geesh, what gives?

Regarding the price / availability of the Cross' albums...
On Ebay.co.uk I got Shove It for £10, Mad Bad for £25 and Blue Rock for £30. They seem to come up for sale fairly regularly too.
Can't speak for Ebay.com
Reccomended albums?
Back to the light you can't really not have. If you don't have that you might as well throw away A Night at the Opera, Queen II, and all the other must haves. Ressurection (from Back to the light) is one of the best things Brian's ever done IMO.
Another world is pretty good, but a bit patchy (it's basically a collection of songs Brian had done for tribute albums, soundtracks, etc, with some new ones thrown in).
As for Roger, get Strange Frontier if you want catchy 80s synth-pop stuff or Happiness / Electric Fire if you want a more mellow, matured listen-to-it-a-few-times-and-it'll-grow-on-you sound.
With Freddie you have "Mr Bad Guy" (laid back, mellow piano or synth based stuff, slightly funky. Includes original much more laid back versions of Made in heaven and I was born to love you) "Barcelona" (album of duets with opera diva Mosseratt Cabelle) or the imaginativley titled "The Freddie Mercury Album" (available with slightly different tracklisting under the title "The Great Pretender" in the US I think) which is basically disco remixes of songs from Mr Bad Guy made by random people after Freddie died. Though it does include his covers of Time and The Great Pretender, as well as Barcelona (if you don't want to get the whole album of opera stuff)
Blue Rock, Blue Rock, Blue Rock. No-one seems to have mentioned it yet and it's fab. Happiness? and Mad Bad are also great.
My least favourites are Another World and Shove It.
