I was thinking that right now, due to the increased publicity due to the tour, etc etc, is an absolutely crucial time in terms of future queen releases from QPL. I believe its erm 5 months since On Fire was released, anyone know how well it sold?
the question asked would have to be, how long do they leave it before they release a new CD, if they release anything? do they do it sooner rather than later to maximise the current feeling,or do they leave it a while to try and continue sales for On Fire. I know they want to avoid flooding the market.
Personally, although I'm no market expert, I would definitely want to get a new release out this year. Be it another live album, or the ANATO special edition, I just feel that right now, the publicity and interest in Queen is very high, and a new release would hopefully do well.
Well, I guess QPL is banking somewhat on the Queen tribute Album, (good timing..getting NEW contemporary artists to target/market/showcase Queen to a younger age demographic/new audience) to be released July 2005,
then you have the "rumored" Queen+Paul Rodgers release supposedly to be released August 2005,
Then you have the 30th Anniversary ANATO Special Edition coming out sometime in 2005,
So...let's see what else is in store. I agree, strike while the iron is hot. What with the Queen+Paul Rodgers Tour, Queen's 30th Anniversary, yep...great time to release some more vintage...classic...never before released concerts or recorded work on both CD and DVD.
You're missing the point. There is no need for new products at all, the whole catalogue is available, and the Platinum Collection is STILL available (12 months after Brian said it was being withdrawn), and the tour/Queenmania stuff is all designed to get the man in the street to buy what already exists.
The hardcore fan such as us geeks/nerds/anoraks are catered for by the tour itself and the downloads.
Queen may not need the money, but EMI does. Or at least thinks it does.
