I have heard several stories about why Roger wrote "I'm In Love With My Car".
One being about his own Alfa Romeo! Yummy Great taste in cars.
Another that he wrote it about a friend's Triumph car.
Which story is CORRECT?
What's the REAL Story behind Roger's I'm In Love With My Car?
The truth is he is a closet automophile.
He has undertaken psychiatric treatment, but lets be honest here, I strongly suggest you keep your exhaust covered.

Well I KNOW the song is....autoerotic..but really besides it being a send up..which story is correct!
Oh and if Roger STILL looked like he did in the 1970's I would NOT want to keep my exhaust covered...LOL!
Rick wrote: He dedicated the song to a famous car-driver/Formule 1 driver who had an accident with his car and died...
Something like that.
was this after Senna's accident?
Sorry, don't know...
Sorry for not knowing this...but WHO is Senna?
You're not forgiven for your ignorance.
Ayrton Senna, brasilian driver, was F1 champion for 3 times ('88, '90 and '91 I think) and died on May 1st 1994 at Imola (if I remember correctly). He is considered one of the greatest drivers of all times.

I wonder how Roger could write a song about his death in 1975...

Nope...don't think in 1975 Roger, unless he was clairvoyant, wrote the song about Senna dyin' in 1994. Guess we can rule that theory out.
Facts! I demand Facts! (laughs)
Basically the song is about John Harris who was Queens' sound engineer in the early to mid 70's. According to Roger in an interview on a program called "In The Studio" he wrote it about Harris who was a big car fanatic and would spend a lot of time taking care of the car. It was even dedicated to him on ANATO lp. Just for the record, he did not die in a car accident and apparently is still alive.
If you look in the booklet of ANATO, then it says:
I´m In Love With My Car
(Taylor)
(Dedicated to Johnathan Harris, boy racer to the end)

I heard an interwiew ... and he said it was about some guy he knew that loved his car.. and nothing else. (also this song is dedicated to Johnathan Harris, boy racer to the end)
He said also that he loved his car as well...
He had Alfa Romeo ????? WOW great!! he has a good taste in cars !! I've always wanted Alfa Romeo :D
I've said on another topic I did about Roger, that I would love to have a Hummer, with a DVD/CD surround sound system/stereo/radio/satellite, with a mini bar, etc.
So I want Roger to sing "I'm In Love With My Hummer"!
Just kidding of course! LOL

i think this comment a little premature - after all, have you actually seen the exhaust in question? it could be a work of art
I listened to Roger's Live version of this from the Queen+Paul Rodgers Tour website.
Geez...Roger kicks total ass on the 2005 Current live Tour version! He sounds like he truly enjoys performing this song, and is having a blast doing so. He ROCKS his ass off, totally immerses himself in the "autoerotic" tongue in cheek(y) lyrics, belts out the lyrics with total rauchous, scorching, electric, vocals, yet you can hear he has whimsy and charm in his voice.
Wish I could see him do this live (hope I get to)!
