I think my brain has gone all Ozzy Osbourne on me - as I don't recall if the following is true - or if I imagined it.
I bought all the 46664 Internet downloads and saved them to my hard-drive. Yesterday, clearing "My documents", I thought I would save all my music to disc.
The recent 2005 "46664 - 1 Year On EP" was fine, as I looked it up on itunes and the details were still there. "Invincible Hope (2005 Remix) 4:12 Nelson Mandella & Queen".
However, can someone remind me of the first set of downloads, as they seem to be no longer accessible. Released November(ish) 2003, I think the tracks consisted of: "Invincible Hope", "The Call" and "Amandla" by Queen & Anastacia. (Another track "Say It's Not True", as yet, remains unreleased/unavailable).
Yet, over on "Queen On-line" it is claimed that "The Call" was NOT released: "The Call... has only been heard/played on UK Capital Gold Radio... I don't think a download was available despite Brian saying he hoped he could make that happen".
But here's where it gets weird. I seem to remember not only "The Call" but that there was also a free unreleased stereo mix also re: Brian's soapbox. (ie not one but TWO versions).
If this is so, I seemed to have "lost" all traces of both.
Now, if I have lost it (the tracks that is) could some kind soul remind me of the links where I can re-download (or even send me a copy via e-mail) - or - have I really lost it (as in my marbles - and the rest home beckons sooner than I thought)?
This may seem trivial, but it is really driving me insane!
I don't ever being able to download The Call anywhere John, but I might be wrong? I think it's something to do with the copy protection that means that some of them won't play which I think is really crappy.
I can help you with the above tracks.
However, it has to be said that "The Call" was ONLY played on Capital Gold radio, and my copy appears to come from an Internet broadcast from that station, so the quality isn't that great. An official download was never made available.
Invincible Hope and Amandla are in CD quality. I got Amandla from the HUB, where it is practically readily available in most users' shared folders. IH, I can't say who I got it from (sworn to secrecy).
I will send you the tracks in return for anything you can share with me (MP3-wise) that I don't have (no, I'm not going to ask for Hangman either), or if you don't have anything, that doesn't matter either way, cos I won't mind sending them to you. I will upload right away
Thanks. I would love a copy of that track - if you can upload or send, that would be fine.
I would like to point out that I have bought all the officially available 46664 material, so I do not need copies of any of the other stuff.
I own the 2xDVD set, the 3xCD set, and downloaded both sets of the full available Internet Downloads. (I even video-taped the edited version of the show from the UK C4 television broadcast).
I remember the radio download - and that's possibly where I start to confuse. I remember "The Call" was available on my hard-drive - but I thought it was "official" (mind you a bona-fide Radio broadcast is hardly illegal!)
However, the downloads have sat in my PC hard-drive for ever, and considering I have had a history of PC problems, I thought I would save to CD. I did make a MP3 copy to CD - but I seemed to have lost the links to "redownload".
I think this is where this Internet Download theory starts to fall apart - because (even if I have legally paid for the download) it seems that I can no longer find the original link - so if I did suffer from PC problems, I am buggered.
So I guess the moral is SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!
I've sent a link. Check your e-mail.
If you could send me a list of your collection on MP3 that you can share, so we can make this a fair trade (one-for-one), that'd be great.
If not, that's OK otherwise. Glad I could help you either way.
Thanks to some frantic e-mail activity, I have been able to work out the solution. "The Call" was indeed available as an official (albeit) limited download from Capital Radio - where the track was broadcast as part of a 46664 promotion. For those who missed the brodcast, Capital, (like the BBC and other broadcasters), keep the broadcast on-line for up to one week later, where it could be "downloaded". After that, the broadcast is removed - so that's why the link no loger works. So that answers where I "officially" downloaded it from.
The source of my confusion was that I kept all my related Internet Downloads in a "46664" folder in "my documents" - so I guess I was half right

John, I have a studio version of 46664 And it's not the same as the Capital Gold recording, it's a re-recording, added drum and guitar parts. And it's a bit slower.
Contact me, i'll give you details
