I have liked tons of TV theme songs through the years. My Favorite Currently: "Faith Of The Heart" From Star Trek Enterprise Sung by Russell Watson Also like the theme songs to: "Save Me" from Smallville by Remy Zero Charmed that old song is it by The Smiths "California" from The O.C. by Phantom Planet "I Don't Wanna Be" from One Tree Hill by Gavin DeGraw (guilty pleasures from my childhood & teen years.. I actually BOUGHT on 45 singles these doozies:) "Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow" from Baretta by Sammy Davis Jr.! "Welcome Back" from Welcome Back Kotter by John Sebastion "Theme from Swat" from Swat (I have no idea who it was by) |

Theme music from "Lost in Space" (I think it was the second series) as it was composed by John Williams - the same guy who did the music for Star Wars "Love is all Around" from the Mary Tyler Moore show - yes, cheesy, but I like it "Happy Days" theme music The theme music for "Battlestar Galactica" (original) "Suicide is Painless" the theme for MASH |

This will probably mean nothing if you're still the right side of 40! There are a couple of theme tunes from kids TV programmes way back in the early '70's, when we used to get served up badly dubbed black and white european shows. The ones that always make me feel nostalgic are the theme from Robinson Crusoe, lots of violins as the credits rolled over waves washing up the beach, and the theme from White Horses, I can't remember if that was the name of the programme, but they sang about them in the theme tune, and it starred a young boy with a nice line in thick wooly jumpers. Anybody else remember these ? |

The Benny Hill Show Miami Vice (prob. an all time fave) Knight Rider Bonanza Dallas Dynasty Hill Street Blues Little House on the Prairie The Love Boat Taxi and many others... I can't think of anything more annoying than some whiney popsong as a theme for a show. |

As well as the aforementioned "Doctor Who", a couple of other Ron Grainer classics stick in the memory: Main In a Suitcase / TFI Friday (same tune) Steptoe & Son The Prisoner That man was clearly a musical genius... |

"I also love the theme to Secret Agent starring the great Patrick MacGoohan.(sp?)" Secret Agent? Pah! You mean Danger Man! Proper British titles only please! ;-) (although for all I know the US prints could actually have had a different theme tune as well as a different title, in which case I cheerfully make myself look like an idiot while attempting to show off my useless knowledge!) |

TM: "You mean Danger Man! Proper British titles only please! ;-)" You knew this was coming - didn't you? The second series of "Danger Man" was changed in the US to "Secret Agent", with different opening titles complete with (gaudy) theme tune called "Secret Agent Man" - which was released a US 7" single by Johny Rivers I belive. (I have enlosed your prophecy so that you will feel confident in tomorrow's lottery!) "although for all I know the US prints could actually have had a different theme tune as well as a different title". PS: I only know because I bought the US NTSC DVD collection. |

Can I have Quatermass, even though they just used Holst's "Mars, Bringer of War"? Come on! It kicks televisual arse on those serials. If they're not using it tomorrow night on the new one, there'll be trouble! :-) |

Do you know, I've just discovered that "Secret Agent Man" was written by the same guy who gave the world Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction". How odd is that? A bit like finding out that the theme tune to "Captain Scarlet" was written by Bob Dylan or something. |
