Having seen the fancourt gig and seeing paul forget the words to some songs fiasco i was never in doubt that this was just one of them days when things don't go right me and my mate argued over it and i said it was most probably down to the heat/humidity and sheer nervousness that he sort of f****d up so now having heard the reviews from brixton, seeing the footage on the various newsreels they look very good and it brings hope of a really cracking tour.
I won't see them until cardiff and i think there's about 20 or so gigs before then so by the 7th may they should be well oiled and on fire stage wise alas any cobwebs will be blown away, nice to hear and see roger in much better shape and i'm sure the tour will be a huge success as momentum gathers pace.
On the setlist that will change i'm sure from country to country so there will be varying setlists which will be interesting to see and hear and who knows perhaps they've tried breakthru/miracle or innuendo type tracks and they are just ironing out the cracks to perfect them as much as they can.
Good luck for the tour guys.
oh forgot this track 13 at begining of concert would tell me that it's a requiem and some sort of blessing off freddie to send the boys out on stage with all his hope and heartfelt wishes i'd liked to think that was the case.
I try to understand the message behind Track 13 going straight into Eminem's words "Back To reality / oops- that goes gravity"- yep, that IS a statement. But... it doesn't f**king sound right- it bores rather than builds the atmosphere...
It simply went on for too long.
I justified it as being the affirmation of the end of Freddie Mercury being "in" Queen - remember rack 13 is the surviving member's take on what Fred's journey to heaven may have "sounded".
That then led to Paul's plea to the crowd that he was / is "reaching out" for our support in this venture.
And then literally knocking us over with TYMD.
All that said, Track 13 was fucking boring on the MIH album - I remember feeling cheated that they had left THAT MUCH space on a £15 CD when it could have been filled with the Headbanger's Mix of HTF, I Go Crazy and anything else they hadn't issued before.
The lights were off in Brixton for the whole of Track 13 and NOTHING Happened - maybe if they's had a video presentation to accompany it or something?
Or, simply, just come on stage a LOT earlier than they did and added a coupleof other songs.........
Still, I'd forgotten all about it by the time I'd started clapping them off stage for the last time.
