I was presuming that the guitar Brian used for the majority of the Brixton gig was one of his comissioned close copies (only way you can tell from a distance is there is what seems to be a sixpence embossed at the very top of the head of the guitar)
However, due to Brians guitar troubles at Brixton, did my eyes deceive me or did he change to another guitar, (one without a sixpence embossed) was this the REAL 'old lady' ???
does he still take her to gigs? dayam! if i owed the most expensilve guitar in the world ever id be so scared id drop it or something!!

...the guitar with the sixpence at the headtop IS the original Red Special - the sixpence being a very recent addition by Bri himself...
That said, I haven't seen yet any pictures from Brixton, so I can't say which one(s) he actually used.

you mean that IS the original!??!?! are you sure????
Guitar problems, something happened during These Are The Days Of Our Lives, the techs were going mental at the stack of AC-30's Brian looked very frustrated at some points, strange things happened several times, Brian was constantly looking over to his techs and requesting more volume, gesturing 'up up' a lot
Other than that, i have no idea what the technical ins and outs of what happened were.

funny!thanx!
Well, anyway, maybe you would like to know that brian goes ...nowhere without his trusty red special! It's just amazing how someone could bouilt his first electric guitar and then use it at a super-professional status for nearly 50 years.
It's amazing if you think to how many copies he must have been offered in all this years. THAT guitar is still there!!!He hasn't changed a thing in his gear in all these years!!!
I would never be able to do that..

I think there was some problems with deley- from what I remember the sound was very delayed (Brian was playing sth and the sound was a bit later) and it almost seemed like he messed up solo a bit- which wasn't the case. Maybe one of the channels wasn't audiable or sth- not an expert, but sth definitely was wrong. Not the guitar though IMO...
Bri used the original Red Special (with the sixpence in the head) for most of the set - he switched to a copy (probably a Guyton??) for Fat Bottomed Girls, presumably cos this is detuned. He used a 12 string acoustic for '39 and Love of My Life, and both he and Jamie used clear plastic bodied acoustic guitars (not sure what make) for a couple of other songs. He did indeed have problems delay wise during the solo on TATDOOL, and Pete Malandrone and a.n.other were frantically fiddling with his AC30s for a song or two trying to rectify this - it seemed ok after this.
Ah yes i thought he did change, but i thought he changed from a Guyton to the original for Fat Bottom Girls as that is in 'drop D tuning' i believe...but looking at the Guyton now it simply has "Guyton" on the head and not a sixpence hehe so how come Brian put the sixpence in to the original??? has anyone asked him that? on brianmay.com or anything?

... IMHO the sixpence is probably meant to make the original RS stand out among the replicas when all of them are lined up on their stands - I don't think its original plain headstock would be so immediately visible among the others, which only have the maker's thin signature on them ...
... should ask Bri, though ...

Jamie didn't play any "clear bodied" guitars. Brian & PAUL played a "skeletel" guitar.
Other than that, it looked like the original all the way except FBG.
Hence Brian's request for "the old lady", and Malandrone's mock reverential carrying it on.

Kev, is the Guyton or Fryer ???
The Fryer is a lighter red than the old lady, and has a blank headstock?
The "Old Lady" has the "Back to the Light" Star just forward of the 6 switches and the sixpence on the Headstock. It is the BHM BTTL 1993 sixpence he had minted which is stuck on it.
Cheers

Brian used Fryer's replica "George" for FBG.
The Guyton replica tha Brian own is Green, Brian call it the "Green Twin".
Some tricks to recognize Brian's guitars:
*the original RS: coin on the headstock and a little star near to the white switches.
* Fryer replicas: Brian owns 2 of the 3 copies that Greg Fryer made in 1997 (George and John). Both guitars have white bone string guide on the headstock (black backelite in the original RS)
Gerge was made with different woods and the colour is clear compared to the original RS. Paul is an exact replica of the original.
* Guyton replica: Brian own the "Green Twin" prototype. So if you see a green replia that's the Guyton copy.
Hope this helps!!!!
