I think Fancourt was a good beginning of the tour. There were some little mistakes, but that's normal for a first show. Paul made some little mistakes with the lyrics, but the rest was OK. Roger en Brian looked fit. I also think Rogers' drumkit was amazing with his rototoms and his china cymbal. Back to the old days !! The setlist was ok. It was cool that they played FBG and TSMGO. TYMD was a very good song to start with. The following concerts will be much better. I just see this concert as a good start and we must not judge too hard !!
As a drummer I really missed the third hanging tom ... don't know why he is omitting that one since a couple of years ... where is he going to use the rototoms for anyway? ... smells like a drum solo or Dragon Attack maybe?
I really liked TYMD ... and A Kind Of Magic, Crazy Little Thing and FBG are already great songs to do (since the last years the only things we heard was TYMD, TSMGO, RGG, WWRY, WATC, Under Pressure and Hammer To Fall)
Ok, so Paul missed a lot words on the four songs we heard ... he'll get it right after a couple of gigs ... I'm going to Brixton ... a lot of other stuff will be played than ... so a lot can go wrong ... but that's playing in a band ... on stage the nerves get to you ... it needs time to get the machine oiled (or to become a machine as a band, a whole unit ... )
As a fellow drummer I miss the familiar look of Roger's third rack tom, but if he still nails his stuff then I don't mind the look ,as his sound is always awesome. I reckon the roto-toms are gonna be for 'Get Down, Make Love' ??

In the 70s Roger used the roto-toms on almost every ending or drum roll. I think that sounds very cool.
I think he drumed great on saturday, really rocky and not just the basic beat. He also sang bvs while drumming.
Nice to see an optimistic thread. This place has never been that negative. I always felt I was one of the most sceptical people here, now I am one of the rather positive people. At first I thought TYMD sounded quite good. Of course, when you directly compare it to Milton Keynes, there is a huge difference, but that comparison is not fair. They will improve in the next few weeks, definitely.
The only thing I really always hated and still hate is Spike Edney's shitty keyboard sound. His pling-plong makes the whole band sound like a top-40 cover band at a fun-fair. He is so pointless in most songs. I wish he'd piss off, and I wish Brian would remember his promise of "no back-up this, no back-up that".
