Regarding the fans requesting releasing work promoting the band, rather than just merely marketing it,--
--take it from one in the know, I have personally run against a brick wall and I am throwing my hands up in the air in frustration at certain powers who love the No word.--
--Let's just say as a music industry insider I have been on a personal crusade to get everything produced and released Internationally, as well as in the UK and in the USA,--with a resounding--NO--including--New Queen Documentaries, to New Queen Official Box Sets, CD's/DVD's and reissues released with recorded and visual outakes, demos, scratch takes, video outakes/bloopers, never before released recorded work, concert/live performance footage, (everything, just about every International concert you can name, Televised concerts from BBC, The Old Grey Whistle Test, Midnight Special, Saturday Night Live, etc.) archvive interview footage, New interviews with the band, with Queen's producers, engineers, colleagues, etc, etc.--
--I can't even get the 10 CD 2 DVD Freddie Mercury Box Set issued/released in the USA--
--Help!-- Show your support to the record labels, ---Parlaphone in the UK, and Internationlly,--and Hollywood Records in the USA,--Queen's manager, etc.---campaign, write, do what you can!--
But who are you? You say yourself, you were on a personal crusade - I've never known record companies/business to act on the request of one person who doesn't have a say on anything. No one is going to influence Queen Productions (AKA Jim Beach)

Furthermore, about the DVD, I was thinking about that yesterday: whoever controlls which is the next concert released (whether it's Brian, or Jim Beach, etc) is definitely doing marketting instead of trying to promote the image of the band. (and see his additional comments) link

Well, that's what I mean, too. I want to help promote and boost the image of Queen. And yes, I have been working as an International music/entertainment journalist, and done freelance work with box sets and reissues in the music industry. So it's both a personal--and professional crusade/campaign--I thought to put whatever leverage, input, connections I had to good cause and discuss these options with some of the powers that be mostly at the USA Hollywood record label and with the UK and USA Queen publicists. ----
-----They just seem to drop the ball with boosting the band's profile, music, and image----------when the timing couldn't be more--perfect--- while the Queen Reunion and International Tour is taking place. It's good, common sense--and business sense--and artistic sense--to strike while the iron is hot--. But the "powers" just either don't get it or don't care.--
--But then that's the nature of today's music industry which has all but deconstructed with zero emphasis on artist development. Whereas years ago record labels, radio, press, and managers followed artists/band's through a career lifetime and all of their albums, changing artistic directions and put every ounce of development, growth, and promotion--behind well....developing and shaping the artist's career and growth--long term..for the long haul.
---Also, you ask what difference can one person make?--
--Years ago, when the music industry was all about the music and for the love of the music and the artist(s) creating it,--a hell of a lot of a difference.--
--Just think of the great A&R people, Radio DJ's, press agents, Managers (ie: Jerry Wexler, Ahmet Ertegun, Kenny Everett, John Peel, Brian Epstein, etc)--
--and of course the one two punch team of Manager Peter Grant and his press Agent Danny Goldberg (Danny-who went on to head many record labels, currently with Artemis Records)--who singlehandedly made it their--personal mission and labor of love--to make the world stand up and take notice--of Led Zeppelin,---and get Zeppelin the record deal they deserved, the international recognition they deserved--and--
--took a no holds barred position with the press and journalists to stop treating Zeppelin like S**T and instead, treat Zeppelin with respect, class, integrity, and as rock god legends, and it worked. That's what one person..could do.--
--And I guess that's what for me, who has always looked at the great record A&R, music industry people of days of old with respect, and as I have always wanted to work in A&R and the general music industry, until the current climate of the music industry imploded--want and am trying to do for Queen, Now. Can't blame a lady for trying....
You mean Hotmail thru MSN? Why you ask?
Just I don't give out my direct contact info on these forums, otherwise every musician & entertainer would be bugging me--do press on me, get me a record deal!
And with the current state of things and as you see my own frustrations with the Queen camp I guess my input means zilcho unless I'm Steven Spielberg or Oprah!
Gee just a music and arts loving journalist who also has dabbled with freelance work on box sets and reissues....
who has interviewed Gregg Allman, Buddy Guy,
Bo Diddley, The Kinks' Dave Davies, Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramhall II, Jorma Kaukonen,
The Marshall Tucker Band, James O'Barr who authored "The Crow" (you know that cool movie that Brandon Lee made as his final Motion Picture), The Music Supervisor of The International TV Show "The O.C." Alexandra Patsavas, etc.... in....
and covered the music/entertainment industries/artists in....
"Guitarist Magazine", American Songwriter Magazine", Blues Revue Magazine", "Vintage Guitar Magazine", "Paste Magazine", "Goldmine Magazine", etc........
Well there, now that my Superhero Identity has been somewhat revealed (Elektra I ain't, though I wish!)!
--Can we please get back to the issue at hand.--
How to convince the powers that be to properly promote and boost the image of Queen on the scale that has been discussed on the posts of the Gregg Brooks forum post.--
--and also on the scale of what you see I listed on my/this forum post of mine of just.....some....of the many business/artistic/economic/creative proposals that I have been personally proposing with and to the Queen camp...which are falling on deaf ears.--
---Oh and yes, one of the many things I forgot to mention is, I already have discussed with the Queen camp producing a minimum 2-4 hour updated Current Documentary that would include many items I don't want to elaborate on here,---
--but one of the items I do want to mention since everyone is discussing it on the forum, is I already did mention to the Queen Camp in regards to what could be included in the Documentary--
--would be going to some or all of Queen's Recording Studios and filming New footage, also with showing...archived footage of the band in the studio...---
--discussing the entire creative process start to finish--of some of their greatest songs and records including Bohemian Rhapsody---
--and also doing New Interviews with not only Brian and Roger discussing this, but with Queen's renowned Producers and Engineers (Roy Thomas Baker, Mack, David Richards, Justin Shirley Smith) etc.--
--But all I here is bad timing, not enough public interest, no budget, yada yada--ya think? I mean where do these "suits" get this stuff. I wish I could get paid 8 figures to do....what!
