I actually started seriously listening to Queen because of my brother who got "Jazz" for his birthday (Yes he still has the original LP - the bastard!) He added a few more albums to the collection and I just grew up on it and eventually started buying my own! I've actually got a funny story with that "Jazz" album. Of course it came with the poster of the Bicycle Race. Now my sibilings and I were brought up in a strict Catholic household. Of course my brother thought it was great (as would any red blooded male teenager) to have the poster and promptly put it up on the back of his bedroom door - not to mention some of his school mates and other neighbourhood boys coming for viewings!! My sister and I knew about it but our mum didn't - until she went on a cleaning frenzy in my brother's room. Well of course there was the usual accusatory "WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT???" from my mother and of course my brother's response was "You gave it to me!!!!" Unfortunately her comeback was rather savage........yep folks, she burnt it!!!!!!!!! |

Great story! I became a Queen fan after listening to We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions on Live Killers. Two songs, one big fan! |

When we were kids, when we were young and things seemed so perfect (I was eight or nine years old then), I had some older friends. One of them got GHII and sang We Want To Break Free while playing computer games. I found it kind of interesting, and made a copy of his CD (on tape). I'm a huge fan since that day. |
valentine 04.03.2005 03:32 |
I was about 10 years old when I heard We are the Champions. My mum was a queen - fan and she introduced me to Queens music. I remember crying when I found out that Freddie had died a few years ago ( that was awful then, but now makes me laugh ). The other kids bullied me at school and they thought I was gay because I listened a band whose singer was homosexual. It made me super-gay because I also liked Elton John and went to see him once. How stupid is that??? Well, the bulluying didn't turn me down and I'm still a hc Queen-fan!!! |

Mostly because of my Uncle, who's been a Queen fan since he was 16 or so. I got to listen to one of Queen's albums when I was 6 years old or so, I believe it was ANATO. Anyway I've been hooked every since. |

I most have become a fan in late 1991. Because Bohemian Rhapsody was on the radio a lot. I know I was young and around 91 I was 8 years old. I kept asking my brother to warn me when the clip came on, later he taped it for me. I couldn't stop listening to that great voice of Freddie. Sometime later I was in a record shop with my parents and I saw the cd lying around (greatest hits 1). My parents bought it for me because I listened bohemian rhapsody so much. That cd also I really couldn't stop listening. And again sometime after that I saw Greatest hits 2 and again my parents bought it for me. A lot later I bought the other albums, it was really great to discover more and more albums and each time I thougt the albums were great. When I was 16 I saw the first videoclips and I thought they were great. After that I really became a fan. That voice did it for me.... |

The Great Pretender, No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young), Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure, You're My Best Friend, Somebody To Love, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions and the We Will Rock You musical. All them got me into Queen. |

I remember hearing Killer Queen on the radio in 1975 [ before ANATO came out] I'd be 9 going on 10 years old . My brother bought "Opera" in 1976 and that summer I must have listened to it every day in our bedroom .I just couldn't get enough . We didn't even have a stereo , just a record player from the '60s . [ah memories ]. I took the album to school and played Death On Two Legs for the kids .When Freddie sings " But now you can kiss my ass goodbye " I thought that was so cool and naughty [ I was trying to impress those grade 6ers ] That's basically my story. Oh ya , I got into Kiss too, but that's another story . |

I was at my Grandma and Grandpas house, and goin' through some old CD's of my parents. I saw one titled 'Chicago', but thought it was from the movie Chicago or somethin', so I ignored it. Then, I got bored again, so I listened to it, and didn't take it out of my CD player for months :D Thats how I got into 70's-80's music. It went from Chicago, to Bon Jovi, to Metallica, ect.. Now its Queen, and I don't think its gonna change for a while :D |

doremi 12.04.2005 18:34 |
I was 14 and saw the video for BoRhap on TV and heard Bo Rhap on the radio and I think about the same time I heard Both Somebody To Love and Killer Queen and saw the videos for them too, this was about oh 1975. Then I became a HUGE Queen fan bewteen 1985-1989, from watching them "steal" Live Aid, and on when I really appreciated all of their music, and who they are as true artists. |

1975: I heard Bohemian Rhapsody on the radio... One song, just shy of 6 minutes, changed my life. Been a Queen fan from that day til now! |

When I was eleven, we did a school play about a class that competed in a singing contest and won. In the end of the play we all sang WATC with Queen. I loved that song from the first time I heard it. During rehearsals for the play we used to listen a lot to GH1, so I heard some other great tunes too, such as Bicycle Race. Later I found out that "the song played at every ice hockey match" also was by Queen. One year later I bought GH1 & GH2. SO it all started with WATC, that I still think is the best song ever together with TSMGO. |

it was when I first heard the Sheer Heart Attack album on WYSP and WMMR in Philly... immediately loved what I heard... soon after they came to the Tower Theatre and I talked my parents into letting me go.... it was then I was thouroughly hooked..... |

Secondry school english class when i was 14 a friend of mine was listening to the Innuendo album at i just got hooked from there. i went on to drum queen into a friend of mine which wnded with him also becoming a fan. The fact i like Queen amuses my aunt immensely as i fist saw queen in the video for a kind of magic back in 1986/87 and hated them calling them a bunch of poofs what can i say i had absolutely no musical taste back then as i was only 6. |

When I saw highlander on TV, I liked the sound track and wanted to know if ther were other songs like that. So I listened to other songs and albums and ever since then, Queen was my favourite! :-) |
The King Of Rhye 15.04.2005 04:37 |
Good topic here....I underwent a slow process of becoming a Queen fan over a good portion of the year 1992....I believe it was all the retrospectives and such that were aired on tv following Freddie'd death, and of course seeing the Tribute concert on TV as well.......and around the same time, seeing Flash Gordon on cable (ah-ahh!).......after all that, I started buying albums.....well, tape casettes those days.....Classic Queen, Greatest Hits (Hollywood version), NOTW, Queen II (still one of my favorites), and Live Killers..... |
RohemianBapsody 15.04.2005 07:51 |

Dickie 15.04.2005 08:03 |
Saw them supporting Mott the Hoople and, like BHM1775, the rest is history. During that time I was involved in two video shoots with them as part of the crowd (being a fan club member) and got to meet them on a one to one basis and they were all really down to earth and friendly (although Freddie was a bit reserved) and that just reinforced my dedication to the group. |
Munchsack 12.05.2005 15:44 |
My mum quite liked Queen (although my dad hates them. He likes the music, but hates anyone who ruined punk. That goes for Free too.) However, the first time I really heard Queen as such was when I was twelve. The choir at my school played WWRY (the musical) but they didn't even attempt BoRap. They played the record. The whole thing blew my mind. I got The Platinum Collection for Christmas and having listened to the whole thing about three times a day for a week, Queen became my favourite band. I proceeded to collect all the albums and DVDs. Can't get enough. R.I.P. Freddie |

I thought I was losing on of my best friends and she was listing to Queen , and becoming obsesed with them, so to find a common ground with her I listend to the two Queen cds my grandpa had. I loved them , but it took me awhile to get the names to the right people. That was somewhere around last year or so I can't really remember. Now I love Queen and Roger Taylor! |

April 20 - 1992. Easter Monday... I actually went out and bought my first CD - Live Killers. I thought, for some reason (maybe it was because I was 14 years old...young, dumb, and full of....well...) that I was buying 'Greatest Hits'. I wasn't too pleased at first.... Anyway...driving home, I turn on our local radio station and the tribute concert is starting. I immediately tell whomever is driving to get home. Luckily I was able to watch the entire 6-hour (yes, there was a ton of commercials) telecast on Much Music - I was hooked. And ironically, Live Killers is one of my favorite albums. For what it's worth. |

Through my older brother who was 6 years older than me. He started getting into Queen when BoRap came out. I just overheard a lot of the music he was playing. A year later he had a tape of ANATO which one of his friends had recorded for him, shortly followed by ADATR. When I got my first tape player for my 7th birthday in 1977 I borrowed those tapes and got hooked. Bought WATC as my first single when that was in the charts and got copies of all the other albums up to that point, taped off LPs borrowed from the local library. I may not always like my big, bossy brother but somethings I do have to thank him for, especially since he took me with him to my first two concerts in 1982 and 1984 when I was only 12 and 14 respectfully. I would never have got to see them before I was 16 otherwise. |

I was at school in 1975 and remember hearing Bo Rap for the 1st time and rushing out to buy it. Then followed the albums - first one I bought was Queen 2 which blew my mind. There were 4 of us at school all Queen fans together, all thru school till we left in 1982. And 2 of us recently went to Sheffield together - 30 years on. Makes me feel very old - but very lucky and privelged to have had Queen in life for all this time, through my formative years, right through my adult life till I am an old fogey 41 year old who is now getting her two little ones into the music (they are only 2 and 4 - but boy! does my 2 year old daughter know how to rock!!!) Back in late 91 early 92, while me and my mother were at her friends house, she put on some Queen videos (Greatest Flix 2) on for me while they were chatting away in the kitchen, I just sat there watching videos, and more videos, liked it more and more...that's how it started! |

Can anyone remember the t.v show Gladiators with Urika Johnson presenting, well they used to play AOBTD when a Gladiator was defeated. Me and my brother used to play pretend Gladiators all the time, fighting each other with cushions and my dad(who is a Queen fan) used to put AOBTD on the stereo for us to make it more realistic. Thats how I got into Queen, I wasn't a massive fan till about 1999/2000 though. |

Saw Seven Seas of Rhye on Top of the Pops & thought not bad. Then didn't really get into them (being a teenage Heavy Metal & Prog rock snob - i.e.I thought Queen were (mistakenly) a bit of a girly pop band) then in the morning after a drunken party at college in the early 80's someone put on Live Killers, then a friend who had lost interest in them plyed me Queen II. And I was hooked. Eventually I managed to save enough to buy the Complete Box in the mid 80's & haven't looked back since. I have to say though that the more I listen to tem the greater regard I have for them - e.g. they would have been in the lower reaches of my 20 favoutite bands in the mid to late 80's, now they are in my top 5 and sometimes nothing else will do. In case you're interested the other bands/artists in my top 5 are Deep Purple (& related), Yes (& related), Emerson Lake & Palmer, Jethro Tull. wot no Zeppelin - in my top 10 but personally I feel overrated. |

I became a Queen Fan in my early days. My Father had the album "Innuendo", and the songs burned into my head as i was two years old. we had a small appartment and my parents were listening to the album the whole day, so I also had to. Then there was a time,´as we lost all our CDs and a few years ago I found them again, and didn't know, why I knew the somgs, word by word. I don't remembered the time I was two years old and so I asked my Parents. They told me the whole story, told me about the death of Freddie, and some fats about the band. This way I became a Queenfan and I am still one. |
