I've been sick for the last 3 weeks with horrible coughs and spasms, and today I found out why: I have bronchitis. This is just bad, in my view. Now I have to get my parents to pick up my 5-day prescription the doctor gave me, and I might have to take time off of school (a day or two?) Does anyone else have, or has anyone else had bronchitis before? If so, please share your experiences... |

I had it when I was 4. It was shit. A horrible fucker of a tickle in the throat would cause me to cough for about 20 minutes. I sympathise. You might have to take more than a day or two off school. Bronchitis'll get worse before it gets better, unfortunately. |

I haven't had bronchitis, but I recently got a bacterial infection in the respiratory area and it was really bad. I was coughing constantly, but never actually coughing up any flem. One time I tried too hard to cough something up that I coughed up blood instead (very frightening). I had to take off nearly a week of college (five classes worth) and couldn't work the entire week either. I'm all ready for spring, as I have been sick 6 times since the week before Christmas. (just now getting over a cold now, too.) |

It's nothing to worry too much over Dark. It is just an inflamation of your brochials and it does cause them to spasm bc they become restricted. The most pain you will have is in your chest from coughing. Everytime you go to take a breath it feels like you are actually losing your breath. It is scary. Hopefully your dr. will prescribe this medication called tesslon pearls. They are tiny pills that look like pearls and they slow down your respiratory system so you don't cough so much. They can be dangerous to take though if you accidentally burst one in your mouth. it numbs everything so you won't be able to breath at all. there is like a gel in the pearl that isn't to be released directly in your throat. they never caused me any problem though when I took them. They are very small. I was prescribed them when i had pneumonia and they helped me a lot. What medication is your dr. putting you on for 5 days? That's an odd number of days for a prescription. Maybe docs just do things differently in Canada? It'll pass, stay away from cigarette smoke as much as possible and drink lots of fluids. Now that will be $100 for the dr. advice. ;) |

My "go back in time and give iGSM bronchitis" plan. Ingenious, it was! |

Fortunately, I don't like smokes at all (never smoked once either!), so I'm good. No-one else in my household smokes either, so I'm good for that. My step-mom has her doubts though; she wants me to get a 2nd opinion from my normal doctor at the nearby clinic (who I'm supposed to go back for a check-up with soon before he leaves), so I'm going to do that, even though I'm 100% positive that I have bronchitis, or at least some of it left now (it was horrible two weeks ago). I'm still going to retain the prescription just in case (and by the way, I can't read any of that doctor's writing at all! lol!) |

And I believe my mom, who used to be a smoker, actually had to go to the hospital a few November's ago because she had pneumonia/flu or something, which was the final straw that ended her smoking for good. |

And Freddie's immune system was ZERO because of AIDS. At least, I hope that Richard has very strong body resistance. I had similar experiences. Very tight chest, phlegm like epoxy and hacking and very difficult cough. Hang tight there and you have my prayers. |

I know how you feel Dark. I've had bronchitis literally hundreds of times, I have also been fighting pneumonia since mid-late September. I wish you the best of luck! Breathing problems are a bitch! |

I also had advanced Vampirial-Advocaditis. Worse case the doctor had seen in a while, or so he said. I thought I recognised you Lester. Or should I call you FRANK! Actually I like that name. Frank. |

Barry_UK wrote: There is a big difference, Richard doesn't suffer from AIDS.Yeah, I know he doesnt. It was just an observation I first made when I first read Richard's original post, and as to the seriousness of that type of illness - something of which I havent (touch wood) suffered from and know relatively little about. Its now thanks to the people who have suffered from it and described how they felt in their replies I now know (maybe) what to expect should I suffer from it in the future. |

Well, now I'm having slight chest problems, due to an argument I had with my assistant at school, where I was just yelling at him (behind closed doors). My chest feels a bit tight now. I have an appointment with my normal doctor, since my step-mom doesn't quite believe me that I have bronchitis (she wants a 2nd opinion). I was due for a check-up with my doctor anyways before he leaves next month, so I managed to get one this afternoon! Hopefully I'll be on meds soon enough... |
inu-liger 23.02.2005 14:22 |
And Barry's right, I don't suffer from AIDS or HIV either (nor do I want to) |
inu-liger 23.02.2005 16:59 |
Just got back from the doctor's. What he said was, while it's not necessarily bronchitis (though I "could call it that"), it is a viral infection in my airway tubes, and so he said to take normal cough medicine. |
Hitman 23.02.2005 18:13 |
hope you get in good shape soon.... i hate being sick. |
