Was Queen the first band to release a music video ever? In Laura Jacksons book it said that Bohemian Rhapsody was the first song ever to have a music video. In David Bowie's biography written by David Buckeley it said that Bowie was the first artist to release a music video.
Which is true?
That's very hard to say: in the sixties, some bands shot what was called "promo films" for their singles. Some examples: "Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever" by the Beatles or "We Love You" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by the Rolling Stones. I wouldn't think "Bohemian Rhapsody" was the first-ever music video and also "Space Oddity" by David Bowie.

Boh Rhap was the first real music video.
A video with something else than just them playing their instruments. Or one of the first videos!
It was the first video that was purposly created to be send to tv-stations because the band would not be there to perform it live. Because they couldn't.
and, as far as I know, it was the "first" clip shot on video.
It was the first video that got this kind of attention; it had different elements in it, special effects etc.
It is officially acknowledged as the first videoclip.
