paula abdul said when she closed her eyes he sounded just like freddie, but a real fan knows he doesn't sound like him, but he was pretty good and he went to the next round.
Hmm... Paula says that, huh? And she's a judge in this thing? Makes you wonder.
Peace,
Adam.

In my newspaper "The Washington Post" there was an article about American Idol during the summer. The article was about various contestants from the Washington DC area, one of the constestants said he was turned down b/c his voice sounded "too much like Freddie Mercury"
Like that's a bad thing
Just heard him. He doesn't sound like Freddie. When I was listening to his voice, I certainly was NOT thinking "Wow, this blows me away" as I do when I'm listening to Freddie. Freddie's voice is miraculous, and as this kid proves, no one can ever capture his tone and expression exactly.
Oh yeah, there's one more factor that he needs to focus on: intonation. During his performance, my eyes weren't closed to take it all in, it was wincing.
Oh that was absolutely wretched...I thought it was another one of the bad singers they put on as a joke. When Paula said it sounded like FM I thought she was being totally sarcastic...but then they ACTUALLY let the guy through! Maybe people's voices sound different in the room than they do on TV...that's the only thing I can think of.
I could put it on the hub in a few days if anyone wants it. Do you think Brandy (the guest judge) had any idea who FM was? :)
Just saw it tonight and laughed (and cried inside) at their reactions. Close your eyes and it's Freddie?? I'm no purist or stepford, but that comment, combined with hearing this guy for myself, really hits my annoyance home. I think Cowell said something about it that differed, anyone know what he said? I had to turn over for a film starting and missed it.
Peace,
Adam.
