Given that there is no John. I want Gail Ann Dorsey, David Bowie's bass player. Why? Well apart from being a fantastic bass player and singer, these are some quotes from here: Gail Ann Dorsey: Early on, on the Outside tour, David asked would I consider singing Under Pressure like the Annie Lennox duet he performed at Freddie Mercury's Memorial Concert. Gail Ann Dorsey: Queen is my favorite band of all time and I remember being so overwhelmed at David's suggestion that I cried. Gail Ann Dorsey: To sing a part originally sung by Freddie Mercury so far has been the greatest honor of my life. |

I'm sure Gail Ann Dorsey is an excellent bass player and brilliant musician but she's simply ugly. I'd probably prefer our good old Neil Murray. OR somebody with a "rock appearance", like the ex-bass player from Metallica. |
DocMay 20.01.2005 09:38 |
I hope, Gail Ann Dorsey will play bass. She is fantastic! |

Mlaimo 20.01.2005 09:48 |
I agree with Mr Scully. I want someone who will fit the bill with Paul, Brian and Roger. A classic rock bassist that has the years of experience behind him. Although I am deeply saddened by John's departure from the music business, at least we can get a fourth vocalist. How about Boz Burrell? |
Mr. Scully 20.01.2005 09:56 |
Willem - yes, I mean Jason Newsted :-) Gail simply fits more into some band that plays funky music. But this is supposed to be hard rock! |
DragonOnMyBack 20.01.2005 10:07 |
They could always get Tim Staffel to play bass and change the promotion from Queen+Paul Rodgers to Smile+Paul Rodgers. :-) |
Hank H. 20.01.2005 10:07 |
To make one thing clear: Neil Murray does not look better than Gail Ann Dorsey. I wouldn't like to see any long-haired rock cliché beasts on stage besides Brian May. |
Mlaimo 20.01.2005 10:22 |
Tim Staffell. Now there's a cool idea. The next best thing to John! |
ziggy811 20.01.2005 10:34 |
Definitely Gail Ann Dorsey. She's a brilliant bassist and singer, surely that's the only thing that matters. Her playing would definitely fit in with the Queen sound. Oh and Mr Scully, Jason Newsted and Neil Murray are not exactly my idea of rock 'n roll beauties. :-) |
Mr. Scully 20.01.2005 10:46 |
Indeed... it's the music that matters so I'm sure Gail will do a brilliant job... |

Is it fair to say that Pino P. has a leg up on the competition because he played with the boys at the UK Hall of Fame gig? The only drawback, of course, is that The Who machine is also turning its wheels for a 2005 tour, and he would undoubtedly show his loyalty to The Who, which I would certainly understand... Looks like we're gonna have to settle for ol' pal Flea! |
jasen101 21.01.2005 02:12 |
Hands down Gail Ann Dorsey |

But this is supposed to be hard rock!Sure, I hope for a rock oriented player as well, but Jason Newsted's roots are in metal (C.O.C., Metallica) and has only recently made the step to some more laid back music with Echobrain. But if he's going to play, it would be only 70's songs, and that is NO WAY going to happen. Unfortunately. No idea who they should tour with though. Would love to see John Myung from Dream Theater, but that's not going to happen either, since they are supposed to finish their album by then. |
Mr. Scully 21.01.2005 03:37 |
According to a fan on QOL, Gail won't play with Queen...? I wonder if it's just a rumour or not. |
IvoDutch 21.01.2005 06:44 |
It would be nice if they could find a well-known bass player to tour with them. I had really hoped that John would play, to say thank-you and goodbye to the fans. These are some well-known bass players I know, but I don't think they will join: - Paul McCartney - Duff McKagan - Sting - Bill Wyman - Jason Newstedd It's funny how bass-players are often forgotten. I can't remember that many! |
Jjeroen 21.01.2005 07:42 |
No John? Then it ought to be Neil, just for the feeling of it. But if Gail Ann is an option, I'd LOVE to see her. Seen her tens of times and she realy is a great bassplayer and she can realy SING! Her voice is amazingly strong. |
GiantSpider 21.01.2005 09:01 |
Pino all the way |
Paul Mark 21.01.2005 09:22 |
Someone over at Queenonline is claiming to have spoken to Gail and she says she is not touring with Queen. Apparently Paul Rodgers doesnt like her! |
fairydandy 21.01.2005 11:45 |
Why not this guy? link He plays bass too... |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 21.01.2005 12:15 |
1 - John Deacon 2 - Have I already said John Deacon? 3 - Did they try John hard enough? 4 - Try John once again. ... 999 - John Deacon 1000 - Neil Murray. |
The Mir@cle 21.01.2005 12:21 |
Jamie Moses seems to be quite popular to Brian and Roger... He played at the UK Hall Of Fame, 46664, Hollywood Walk of Fame, QUEEN & 5IVE, Brian May World Tour etc, etc. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 21.01.2005 14:46 |
Jamie, the guitar player? I didn't know he played the bass as well, was that what you meant? On the other hand, if you mean as a guitarrist,I don't think Jamie will be around. It was announced that the band will be comprised of 4 or 5 people, and apparently Paul Rodgers also plays the guitar. So I would guess the band would be: Brian May Roger Taylor Paul Rodgers Bass player Spike Edney. Just guessing, anyway. Cheers, Ogre- |
GiantSpider 21.01.2005 15:23 |
Hopefully. To be honest why is Jamie Moses needed to play guitar. Paul & Spike can do that. |
akindofmagic 22.01.2005 01:35 |
well guys, when i waas to reply to this post i was ready to say i love Gail and that my second choice would be Krist Novoselic(ex-Nirvana). But now that i know that old pal Jamie plays the bass my shot goes to him. There aren't that many 2 guitar songs on Queen's catalogue. Even on that songs(and if PR or Spike don't play the 2nd guitar) jamie can jump to the rythm guitar and Spike play synth bass(on the same way when on the old days John Played rythm guitar and freddie/fred Mandel/Morgan Fischer or Sipke used to do). No Question. it will be Jamie, because Brian said that only 5 guys onstage! Roger Taylor - Drums/vocals Brian May - Red Special/Keyboards/Vocals Paul Rodgers - Vocals/Guitar Spike Edney - Keyboards/Guitar/Synth Bass/BV's Jamie Moses - Bass Guitar/Rythm Guitar/BV's I'm smeling at one point of the show a 4 guitar duel with Roger backing on drums! |
GiantSpider 22.01.2005 06:48 |
That would be pretty cool. |
patsdragon 22.01.2005 08:19 |
Think Gail would have been the best Pix link |
Freddie-B 22.01.2005 10:56 |
You'd count someone out because they're ugly? Did you ever see Freddie? |
Hankster 22.01.2005 11:01 |
it would be helpfull if the bassplayer could also do some backing vocals. And I prefer a male voice above a female voice for the Queen songs. I don't know if Jamie Moses can sing as well? ah well .. maybe we don't even need a bassist for backing vocals; John wasn't a pavarotti either :P |
patsdragon 22.01.2005 14:47 |
Hankster gail{GAD} does under pressure btter than any one |
GiantSpider 22.01.2005 15:05 |
Yes Mr. Moses can sing. |
Queenfan1305 23.01.2005 08:48 |
I think there could have to play bass Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) Rick Savage (Def Leppard) Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) Roger Glover (Deep Purple) or John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) |
Danne 23.01.2005 10:23 |
akindofmagic wrote: There aren't that many 2 guitar songs on Queen's catalogue. No, most of Queen's songs feature a lot more than 2 guitars, for sure! :) |
ziggy811 23.01.2005 13:36 |
Well, no Gail Ann Dorsey apparantely (see other topic.) I can tell you, Paul Rodgers has lost a lot of the credit I was prepared to give him. Well, at least we still have Brian and Roger. |
Khizzy 23.01.2005 14:08 |
Steve Barnacle... I like him, he's played with Roger loads of times... very nice guy as well! |
Hitman 23.01.2005 14:23 |

How about Jaz Lochrie? Played with Paul Rodgers many times and ex-bassist of Go West. Knows Paul's material very well....Paul might have more influence on the choice of bass player than most people think. |
matt z 25.05.2014 08:33 |
John Entwistle! He's as dead as the structure, form and quality of the cosmos rocks album. |
