What song do you think Queen should open the concert with? I personally would like "WWRY" fast version. |
Save me 19.01.2005 19:54 |
greaserkat wrote: What song do you think Queen should open the concert with? I personally would like "WWRY" fast version.yea, that would be good i'd like "Tie your mother down" |
Ray D O'Gaga 19.01.2005 21:36 |
First song: We Will Rock You (fast), then straight into Tie Your Mother Down |
The Real Wizard 19.01.2005 22:36 |
I'm thinking Innuendo. We have to consider the material that came out after 1986 as well. |
deleted user 19.01.2005 22:38 |
I'd prefer Headlong, thank you. |
greaserkat 19.01.2005 23:19 |
i think they should go out with a bang in the beggining, they probably will anyways. But yeah, WWRY and then straight to TYMD, itll have the whole place in a riot. |
akindofmagic 19.01.2005 23:36 |
Breakthru. a fab song to be the first! with the "A New Life is Come" intro... other good options is "A beautiful day Reprise" with record Freddie intro and guys jumping to the stage on the jam part! |
jasen101 20.01.2005 01:02 |
hehe...let's not forget the outside possibility of "now i'm here"! |

Daburcor? 20.01.2005 01:11 |
Headlong would be pretty cool... |
Hankster 20.01.2005 01:23 |
One Vision |
Mr. Scully 20.01.2005 02:14 |
Breakthru intro (tape) + Breakthru (live) ... or ... Thunderbolts & lightnings (tape) + WWRY fast (live) ... or ... It's A Beautiful Day (tape) + Made In Heaven (live) ... or ... Innuendo or BoRhap (not sure in which form) |
Renne 20.01.2005 02:53 |
Hammer To Fall! ...followed directly by Headlong. |
deleted user 20.01.2005 03:34 |
TYMD sounds as the most possible choice, though Brian (who adores this song of him... strange uh?) may decide to keep it for the encore... dunno! |
Voice of Reason 2018 20.01.2005 03:54 |
All great suggestions guys - would look forward to any of them. WWRY fast I guess would be mine. |
Hank H. 20.01.2005 04:15 |
Yeah, WWRY fast is my choice as well. Damn, they'll have to practise really hard if they want to make it sound as good as in the 70s. |
hotspacegr 20.01.2005 06:29 |
TYMD of course! |
wegotit 20.01.2005 07:36 |
Bohemian Rhapsody (Tape Intro til „Galileo"-Part, then Live) |
We Are The Champions 20.01.2005 08:01 |
I've seen Queen 5 times and they always started with a taped intro - One Vision/ Magic Tour, Machines/ Works Tour and Thunder/Lightning/ Crazy Tour. My choice Taped Intro TYMD (Brian & Paul) |
Raúl 20.01.2005 08:27 |
One minute, folks: Don't you think the good idea would be starting with a song of "no tour" years (1987-1991)? You know, something never played before on stage as band would be one of the important reasons of this tour. And, about "no tour years" songs, I prefer I WANT IT ALL. Innuendo is very, very great (epic!!!) but I think is not good for starting because its beggining is mid-slow (in crescendo). |
Jimi 20.01.2005 08:37 |
Agreed Raul. Innuendo is too ponderous and labouring for an opener. You'll be waiting for a quick number after 20 seconds. Hopefully not that shit heap Tear it Up either. |
Fenderek 20.01.2005 08:44 |
WWRY (fast) or TYMD are most likely IMO... But INNUENDO could also work (remember musical?) |
Jimi 20.01.2005 08:56 |
Innuendo would work. Just others would work better. I don't think the musical compares to the opening of a Queen concert though. Did like the opening of the musical to be fair |
Roy Queen 20.01.2005 09:33 |
One Vision.. A exellent intro! A great song! Just peeeeerfect! |
We Are The Champions 20.01.2005 09:45 |
They will not open with a 1987-1991 song IMHO but some will be played. Headlong, IWIA, SMGO were played as part of a medley on Brian's solo tour 1998!!! Agree with Jimi - Innuendo is no-go and will be much later. |
happiness? 16995 20.01.2005 10:57 |
Innuendo works really well as the start to We Will Rock You so I don't see why it couldn't work at the concerts. Atmospheric and then One Vision or the fast We Will Rock You could fire up. |
mr bad guy 5656 20.01.2005 11:34 |
Definitely Tie Your Mother Down. Just like on ADATR! Suddenly guitar, absolutly wonderful |
Rotwang 20.01.2005 11:43 |
I don't know about the first song (probably WWRY fast) but I think they should have Put Out The Fire on the set list. Paul Rodgers could pull this one off. |
We Are The Champions 20.01.2005 13:19 |
Rotwang, Wishfull thinking!! This song has never been played live anywhere outside Japan/US 82!! Only song from Hot Space with any chance is Under Pressure, otherwise forget it. |
Jjeroen 20.01.2005 13:26 |
Yep, well as soon as the tour was announced and I started dreaming away, this was my opener: A Day At The Races Intro and wham-bam-thank-you-mam TYMD!!!! (Followed by WWRY fast that hits straight away into I Want it All!) (And yes, I've let them know on the Paul Rodgers website suggestions-list ;-) (Oh! And Paul should sing TYMD as far as I'm concerned as it where the opener) |
jeff payne 1680 20.01.2005 14:18 |
Breakthru with an extended start before they hit the stage |
RohemianBapsody 20.01.2005 14:29 |
Agree with Raul The intro should be something from the latter years which were never played live. Headlong could be a good opener, and could even work after a bit of intro to One Vision. |
Russian Headlong 20.01.2005 14:54 |
TYMD or I Want it All |
newcastle 86! 16483 20.01.2005 18:38 |
well.... has anyone thought paul rogers might just want one of his own to start? all right now maybe? |
RohemianBapsody 20.01.2005 18:43 |
Yes, but I don't know any of his songs. |
newcastle 86! 16483 20.01.2005 19:10 |
theres some good tunes in the free bad company back catalogue feel like makin love, all right now,my brother jake, none of them wil have the impact of a queen tune tho! |
greaserkat 20.01.2005 20:41 |
newcastle 86! wrote: well.... has anyone thought paul rogers might just want one of his own to start? all right now maybe?yeah, but i can bet that 95% of the people going to the concerts are going for queen. |
newcastle 86! 16483 20.01.2005 21:13 |
yeah i might check out some paul rogers forums! i bet theyve got their own set list! |

Come on, aren't they a bit old for jumping around? I would prever a more sophisticated rock concert. |
jasen101 21.01.2005 03:06 |
Hey hey...what about "The Hero" what? it could happen! |
Voice of Reason 2018 21.01.2005 05:14 |
I'd hope that they'll come up with a whole new start for a whole new tour - not doing the start of the Magic Tour or Hot Space etc - to give this tour its own identity. |
icmrocha (The Man From Planet Marzipan) 21.01.2005 05:20 |
What about 'Was it all worth it"? I could be a great opening song... maybe only half of it should be played... what do ya think? |
IvoDutch 21.01.2005 05:51 |
"Was it all worth it" could be an awesome opening song. It's heavy, bombastic and completely over the top. It is one of my favourite Queen songs, I really hope they will play it. Other opening songs that would be cool: - We will Rock You (Fast, not the Slow version) - Tie your mother down - Don't stop me now (taped intro with Freddie) |
GiantSpider 21.01.2005 08:52 |
One Vision Intro (Tape) We Will Rock You Fast |
brian_may_wannabe 21.01.2005 10:18 |
It depends what Paul can sing and what Brian and Roger can still do. |
Megamike The GREAT 21.01.2005 10:28 |
You guys are missing the one song that just SCREAMS for the chance to be a concert Opener... of course it will NEVER happen.. but I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT.. DEAD ON TIME!!! followed by Tie Your Mother Down.... just my thought anyway |
Hankster 21.01.2005 10:41 |
a taped intro song would really suck (and I don;t mean a warm-up song like Im suggested like the Inuendo intro) Paul is the frontman now, so he must do ALL the lead vocals, especially the intro song; the intro is the most important part of the show! So please, no Freddie tapes, for just bringing back good memories of something that's gone. The old Queen will never be more alive than on our TV screens. This is something new, something different, so let Paul do all the work! Again, no tapes please; I know my cd collection well enough, and I don't want to pay 55 euri's to hear something I already know :) |
akan 21.01.2005 10:52 |
i think the first song will be invincible hope |
D@VID 21.01.2005 11:47 |
My suggestion is Don't Stop Me Now......The intro being Freddies vocal then Queen come on themselves to rip into it. Paul Rodgers bellowing out Dont Stop Me Now would win all the doubters over straight away. |
alex dunn 21.01.2005 15:35 |
Cum on. They might do a Free song. Maybe All Right now. I want I want it all or One Vision. But maybe the song that started after Flash on the Live at Bowl DVD. |
cmsdrums 21.01.2005 15:40 |
Got to be 'Now I'm Here'. Paul Rodger singing the line "Now I'm Here, just a new man..." seems pretty apt to me!! |
alex dunn 21.01.2005 15:46 |
Now i'm Here has a slow opener i want a song that blinds and defens me |
dave2005 21.01.2005 17:45 |
One Vision It worked wonderfully in the Kind of Magic tour, and they should kind of pick up where they left off - and then of course include some Miracle, Innuendo and Made in Heaven songs ! |
little rocker 21.01.2005 21:44 |
must be wwry (fast version ) and tie you mother down |
Miracle Man 21.01.2005 23:40 |
Coeme on it's obvious what they should play... The Show Must Go On. May not be the best song to start a concert off with but some how seems appropriate. |
QueenSite 22.01.2005 02:50 |
it might be Show Must on, it could be quite apt, pr maybe Tie your mother down..I don't think they'd kick the show with a song from Paul |
icmrocha (The Man From Planet Marzipan) 22.01.2005 06:27 |
I think "TSMGO" is more of a closing song.. not a opener... Or will they continue doing the same last encore (We will rock you / we are the champions)?? |
icmrocha (The Man From Planet Marzipan) 22.01.2005 06:27 |
double post hehehhe, sorry :-) |
wesi72 22.01.2005 07:27 |
I reckon Tie Your Mother Down. It's one of Brian's favourites and would get the place jumping. Now I'm Here would fit the bill also. Got to be a well known, loud song. Didn't Roger say the way to do a concert was to deafen them first, do some crap ones then build to a climax (obviously I'm paraphrasing a little). I wouldn't want to be deafened by anything else! Cheers, Andrew |
QueenSite 22.01.2005 07:35 |
well, SMGO was played pretty early in the set both in the Another World tour and the 46664 gig, who knows...about the closing song, the battle should be betwen Champions and All right now. Maybe the sequence WWRY/Al right now/Champions would be cool |
April Lady 22.01.2005 10:16 |
Alright Now!! |
queenfan7474 22.01.2005 11:04 |
Let Me Entertain You would be a cool opener.start with the pounding sound and then let brian run out for the guitar riff. |
3137prof 22.01.2005 12:40 |
It has to be a Fast & Heavy song to get it started so why not the fastest of them all? Stone COld Crazy. If they do do TYMD, I hope it is not the slow version of Brian's that he keeps on doing, as much as I like it. |
englishyob 22.01.2005 13:32 |
queenfan7474 wrote: Let Me Entertain You would be a cool opener.start with the pounding sound and then let brian run out for the guitar riff. The robbie williams song :op only joking please dont take my head off !!!!! I'm still liking It's a beautiful day (Tape Intro) Into Tie your mother down |
Lady Cool Cat 22.01.2005 16:35 |

Hmm...this is a very hard question.. Well, I loved all Queen introes used to have in their gigs...but I think I'd prefer to hear some new intro.. I have some ideas...I think my fave one would be the 1st part of 'Was it all worth it taped with a GREAT intro by Brian when it starts to get heavier! Then...hmmm Let me entertain you or..Death on 2 legs...(i dream about DEAD ON TIME!!!). There are a couple of songs I don't think I'll hear on this concert, but I still dream about them (It's late, My fairy King, the march of the black queen, Gimme the prize, Staying power (live they used to play on 82 tour)..and TOO many others... |
Oberon 25.01.2005 13:22 |
I think Was It All Worth It would be a fun opener, but I'm sure it'll be TYMD to open. Probably after some heavy duty intro (ADATR intro perhaps), lights and smoke bombs. They'll really go to town on the start. All Right now will proabably be the last song before the encore, or the first song of the encore, with WWRY, SMGO and WATC closing out. The real question is, will they use God Save The Queen at the end? |
k01olnug 25.01.2005 16:03 |
The show must go on would go well with the whole theme of queen returning despite what has happened thier show is still going on. |
Mr Fred 25.01.2005 16:18 |
Rain must fall should be good, or I can't live with you. |
cooky 25.01.2005 20:03 |
brian playing procession would be a great opener, with plenty of dry ice ice and lights and then into something played heavy like sweet lady. |
