Okay, it's time for me to put in my two cents. Of course, the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour is the hottest topic on this board (well, definitely this forum lol), and there have been many things said. Some say this will be a great tour, Queen will once again rule the world of music. Some, however, say that it will not be as good as hoped because all it is, really, is two members of Queen with the former lead singer of Free and Bad Company, and that it really is not Queen anymore.
Well, of course it is not the same Queen we grew up with. Things change. But the idea is still there, and we can use that as a rejuvenated feeling of hope and strength for this "new Queen". I mean, take Guns 'N' Roses for example. Though the band split up, Axl tried to piece it back together with a new lineup. It didn't work, unfortunately, but the idea was still there.
What I'm trying to say is, it's obvious that it is not the same Queen, with the untimely death of Freddie and the retirement of John. They will not have the exact same power and electricity that the former Queen of the 70's and 80s, but we, as Queen fans, should embrace the idea of a new Queen. After all, the two founding members are still running after 30+ years, so we should not have to debate about this, saying that "it's not the same Queen". We know that, and you don't need to keep saying it over and over again.
To be honest, with this new formation, the Queen of old will once again be resurrected with a brand new audience that has only heard few songs, if any. And with Paul Rodgers, we can also experience a new sound with the legendary style of Queen merging with the unforgettable style of Free and Bad Company (I wanna see how "Feel Like Making Love" sounds along with Brian and Roger)
I, for one, am completely in support of this new Queen tour, and encourage all of those who disagree with me to look within the heart of the band we know as Queen. Despite suffering numerous shocks and such, that heart is still beating...
Unless you have been to a Queen concert it is hard to compare the old and new Queen very well.
Freddie had great stage presence, and led the crowd brilliantly.
Strangest experience I had was the Aids awareness concert as this was the first "Queen concert I had gone to without Freddie. This was esepcially wierd due to the circumstances.
A few years ago I went to Ocean for the 10th anniversary and Roger and Brian went on stage for the last few numbers. Although i was not Queen as I knew it, the songs still shone through (and the crowd went mental).
The same can be said for WWRY. Although it is not Queen playing you still get the same buzz because of the songs.
I suppose you have to look at how great Fleetwood Mac became in other lineups... I suppose it's going to be a whole new experience for us all!
Paul Rogers with the best backing band ever, and Brian May and Roger Talylor (Both who are amazing on their own!) With another great frontman!
I think this will rock!!!! Imagine songs like Breakthru!
I hope Queen give us at least one track that we've never heard them play live.
Wouldn't it be great if John would come out of retirement for this?

There will never be a new Queen. Queen was Queen and now its gone. Its Roger, Brian and Paul playing a couple of Queen songs, but they can fool nobody with that (except some stupid teenagers who think that this shitty Call on me is a new song and don't know that its a bad cover version of an 80s single)
For the record, Peter Cetera the vocalist is an example of a truly shitty singer. He sounds like one of the Chipmunks and he ruined a perfectly servicable band.
As for Peter Cetera the Queenzone poster, if the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour doesn't interest you then by all means stay home, and feel free to stop pissing all over the idea online. You've made your point of view very clear, so please stop trying to suck all the enthusiasm out of the room. Nobody likes a buzz killer.
Like it or not, the tour is happening and is almost certain to be a success. Get over it, get used to it and move on.
I think Paul Rogers must be pretty brave, those are big boots to fill.
Dont get me wrong here i cannot wait to see them perform but its interesting especially for those that have seen freddie live before, they will be judging Paul against freddie. Thats got to be tough, take the Tribute concert it really showed up good singers like Robert Plant and made them look poor when singing one of Queen's songs.
Those Songs where wrote with freddie's vocal talent in mind its tough to re-create if your not Freddie. I bet there will be songs that are dropped from the concert line up because Paul Rogers just cannot sing them.
The thing to remeber i beilve is to look at this as somthing new, we will never get the old Qeen back but let see what the new Queen has to offer before we cast too harsh a judgment.
Have any of you guys seen Brian May band live?
What did the crowd do when he played Bo Rap and Rock You ..... They went Crazy.
Lets just remember that we can't go back to the 70s,and 80s, (Yes this old Git saw Queen in 1973 and many times up until Knebworth in 86) and Brian and Roger are making a few dreams come true for the younger fans.
It's gonna rock ..... trust me ..

I agree. I'm 18 years old so Queen stopped touring when I was a month old. I honestly thought I'd never get to see Roger or Brian live together (simply because I didn't think it would happen often enough apart from one-off events.) Now I'm going to get the chance and that's something I'm truly thankful for and I'm sure Mr Rodgers will give us a hell of a show too.
Steve P,
Well said. I was 8 years old when Queen gave their last show, and four years old when they last played the States (1982, I believe?)...This truly is a dream come true for me, and I know I'll cherish the experience forever.
I've already made my travel arrangements for Birmingham...This is like looking forward to Christmas!
