Does anyone know anything about the origins of this song? Did Brian write it around the time of the Starfleet project, or was it an old work-in-progress from an earlier Queen session?
Also, how many times did he play it live? I've only been able to track down one time that he performed it, in Barcelona. Many thanks!
From memory, Let Me Out originates from the late '70's, around the time of NOTW - the similarities in style and sound to Sleeping On The Sidewalk are clear. Brian had become bored with the over-production on ANATO & ADATR and was looking for a rawer, more stripped-down sound. Such a shame he was never allowed too much leeway on things like that really.
I wish Brian had persued ideas like this in his solo career, rather than going along the road of mass-appeal music that has clogged up BTTL & AW.......

It was played at the FC gig in '90, at various gigs of the BTTL-tour
'92/'93, at Montreux '01 and at various other occasions I can't remember.
Thank you for the info. I see in Greg Brook's book that during his guitar solo at Rock in Rio,
Brian played snippets of Let Me Out. Has anyone heard this? The video I have of the Rio concert doesn't include his guitar solo...
