I just bought the CD release this past Tuesday. I didn't know the DVD was delayed until this Tuesday. SOB's at Hollwoood! Anyway, as Freddie talks up SP he is edited out. After he says, "Now most of you know we've got some new sounds out..." After he talks about doing some songs "in the uh, funk-black catagory" They cut, "It's only a bloddy record. People get so excited obout thses things!"
I have have a tape of this show since it aired on MTV in the US way back on Aug. 20, 1983. I have been hearing that whole speach ever since. I believe on the GH2 DVD the entire intro is included, so why not on the audio DVD? Is it on the DVD itself?
errrrmmmm........because it sounds like the (thinly veiled) apology for hot space, that it probably was
they recorded the songs, released em and rehearsed em - then relaised they weren't THAT WELL liked -
I noticed the edit too, when I heard the CD for the first time. But the DVD shows the whole "speech".
I don't mind it is not on the CD. Also the part where Brian's guitar is disconnected is edited (for obvious reasons).
Thank God for bootlegs, it was there all the time -- but the DVD shows Brian in a panic when he realises there's no sound and he'd been flailing away on the guitar solo. Then the roadie comes and hits the plug and *yay* let there be SOUND!!
(They left the nice lyric alteration on FBG in also, nice touch!)
I can't wait to see that. On the CD you can hear where it cuts out, but its only for a second. You'd think after that nightmare Brian would have gone to a wireless pack. But maybe in 1982 they didn't exist. I can't remember when they first came on the scene. Less than 24 hours til the damn DVD is released in the states! Can't wait!!!

The wireless guitar packs were used as far back as the late 1970s. Bands like KISS and Styx first used them in 1977 and 1979 respectively. Then, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd was the first British musician I know to use a wireless pack in 1980 during the original Pink Floyd concerts for The Wall as he would be at different places for parts of the show like singing into Roger's mike on Young Lust and of course singing and playing the solos of Comfortably Numb from the very top of the 30 odd foot high wall. I know John Deacon used a wireless pack on the Hot Space tour on his Fender bass. Brian wanted to stay with the long guitar jack.
